Ain't it truth!
I am taking 2 up to Morganton to see about selling. If they come back home then maybe I will get some girls (from what I keep) to hatch but I will probably have to order a few pullets next spring to pair up with the extra boys.
It is getting to where I won't have a whole to take to Morganton. I know Debra has sold down enough and hasn't hatched as may lately so she isn't going to sell.
I love hanging out with Debra, she is fun.
And with DH going I guarantee you we will be bringing more home. He loves EE's, Ameraucanas or Marans. But you never know what will catch his eye. Last Feb. it was all I could do to keep him from bringing home a Turkey! And we were in a small rental car!
This year we are taking my truck and I fear what he will get for me to have to take care of.
Jackie took off to the Albino Skunk fest near my place this morning. She swung by to pick up eggs from me to show off.
I am about to head to the church with a big box of small eggs for the food pantry and dinner.
I got the canvas up on 3 of the M*A*S*H units and will probably do more in the next week. It went pretty quickly.
I have some clear thick plastic left from doing the greenhouse project so I will probably use that down on the barn coops to block the wind and rain this winter. I may put it on one side of the blue/yellow tractor, too for the d'Uccles. Let's light in but keeps the wind out of their run.
Here are 2 of the 3 I did this morning.
I left the east and south sides open and about 6" around the top so on some very warm days the birds will still have air circulation. Depending on how bad our weather is this winter I may do the south side, too. I will just watch and see.
The north and west sides are covered because of harsh winds. I always keep the west side closed up against the summer sun and really wanted to put plywood on that side and paint "See Rock City" on it. Haven't gotten that far yet. But the north winds can be rough on birds so I make sure that is covered well.
