Just wanted to share my d'Uccles new pen--of course just new to them. It use to have polish roosters in it until recently.

Think it is big enough for 4 d'Uccles?

And does anyone have a method for keeping chickens off waters?

Oh, and these are our new marans chicks hatched Friday, Saturday. I am wondering if that one will keep the white on the legs--which I hope not. This is the mellowest bunch of chicks(knock on wood).

I need them to come to my house and move my coop back about 5 feet so I can encircle my (huge) dog run around it!!! Seriously!!!!

Coop door was shut when we got home last night and I thought my friend came and shut it. But the chickens spent the night outside and I can't find 1 guinea and I only found the wing of my last blrw pullet. Waaaahhhh!!! Stupid me, I should have checked and done a head count

. I think free range time in the woods is done!

Jackie, I am so sorry! Hope you find your guinea....

Yeah, that is about as sophisticated as I want to get! Waxing my duck! Sometimes I can wax poetic but not often.

Mom loved fancy parties and getting together with the "ladies". She was in all those fancy clubs and such but I could not enjoy it. I wanted to be outside riding horses and sweating. Thank goodness my sister was more along her same interests. They enjoyed more stuff together. They thought I was nuts for having so many animals and moving out to the country. My sister lives in a big pretty house down on Lake Murray. She married into a family that likes politics so they have more to do with stuff in Columbia.

I am telling you, waxing a duck sure makes it easier but it looks like we will be duct taping the boys. That does sound funny!

I was thinking I had some parrafin wax here.......but the only kind I can think of is in one of those things where you put your hands or feet ........ and I am not even sure where in the attic that is!

Babies! That is awesome!
I have chicks hatching every week, regardless of my vow to not hatch for myself. I did put about 40 of Debra's and Donna's in the hatcher last night. I felt good knowing they were not mine.

OKOK I confess.........I have not done much yet to prepare for winter

I did put my cochins (only 3 left) in with my silkies - and then I decided since I am getting 2-3 eggs a day all of a sudden from that pen, to put them in the bator!

I have 15 in now.

Hmmmmmm. I went as a spectator last year - so going by that - doors open at 6 and cooping in has to be done by 9........that is when judging starts.

I so wanted to put my fave black silkie girl in - but she still has too many pin feathers - and a little bald still from moulting.

Clemson Show!
