Southern CA Swap meet-up / Funday!

I'd be very careful taking bords to a fair. We have the OC Fair here in July and many times chickens have been stolen, lambs have been poisoned, beef have been mutilated. Fairs are not my cup of tea to take my animals and leave unattended for days...just warning anyone who is thinking of doing this. If you do, don't take your best birds.

I want to go....where can I find some info on both fairs?????

I have shown both fairs for 25 years first as a 4-H'er,FFA, and as an adult. Never had a problem, but can see the potential risk. They run from2-3 days. Fierce competition at the L.A. County fair

There were terrible problems at the LA County fair with animals just a few years ago with the lambs. Same kind of thing at the State Fair in Sacramento. Too many people that don't know a thing about animals walking around poking, feeding them and lingering until all hours of the night and no one to watch or safe guard the animals. My 4H club had a cock stolen a few years back and another club had lambs poisoned just two years ago.

It is so sad, even here in our tiny town of ramana 2 years ago a pig was slashed to near death.
I dont understand why such a thing happens. Is the compition so strong that these kids turn on the animals to win?
This is the reason we dont do del mar we have to leave our animals there for a week and trust someone else to take good care of our animals. They are more then 4 h projects.
