Ivy did a great job!! I now have two egg layers! 3 more to go. Guess they are all wanting to get on the bandwagon! LOL

Nice color!!!

Interesting enough....those two are carrying their tails much higher than the others. They know they did something awesome!

My dilemma was....do I leave it or take it out? I did take remove so they wouldn't event think of getting broody or accidentally break them and then develop a "taste". Yet, on the other hand, as a mother, I wanted them to enjoy it. But they seem fine and enjoyed the "extra" meal worm treats. It was like an ice cream party for all!

Not sure why, but every day I marvel at the lovely eggs our hens give us. Lindsey and I sometimes even squeal with delight when a new bird starts laying for the first time. We have the loveliest array of colors, sizes and shapes. It feels like Easter morning every time we collect eggs.

A lot of us here were born in the fifties and grew up on the tail end of the feminist movement when society was changing for the better. I wonder if that cultural change influenced us to be strong women and choose to "color outside the lines". Remember how we went from Donna Reed to Mary Tyler Moore as role models? I remember always thinking that I could do anything the boys could do, and usually better...even though girls weren't supposed to "out do" the boys. It is very interesting how chickens have brought us all together here. Seems that we are a like minded group in many ways.

Birds of a feather flock together!

I've been putting items on my etsy shop. Slow going, finding the right pictures, writing descriptions, etc. I bought a desktop photo "studio" which takes great pictures - very professional. For bigger items, I'm using my cousin's dressmaker dummy dressed in my store tshirt. Lighting for those is a pain, as is background. *sigh*

I remember one of my most embarrassing moments was when my mom told a group of her girlfriends that I wanted to be an astronaut .got angry at her and them. The great thing is that my step dad new I could be and do anything.he was much more encouraging then my mom ever was.
