Me too. I call it payback. My kids are still too young, but heaven help them when they DO have kids. Sharpies and crayons for all!

I'm a little worried this morning, my kitty seems to be feeling poorly. back in November we found out he has crystals in his bladder, and 1300.00 later, he was feeling better, gaining weight and looking good. Last night we got home and he was rather lethargic-he's not even 2, so lethargic isn't in his vocabulary. He drank some water, and took a treat so I wasn't overly worried, just figured he probably ran into a wall (he does this) or tangled with the Maltese and she got a good shot in before running and kiyiing like a puppy.

This morning, he won't take water, and just threw up a little fluid. SO-as soon as his vet opens a visit is in order. I'm leaning towards he ate some thing he's regretting, or a hairball. He did use the litter box this morning, so I know he's not blocked. He may even be constipated, his belly seems a little hard. He doesn't normally eat strange things-he's a finicky guy, but you never know. We did lock up all the easter candy, so that's not it.

The vomiting didn't really alarm me-he's a medium haired cat, so he does get hairballs on occasion. My poor K
airi, he's always such a happy active guy, this just breaks my heart.
Rosie...........I just realized this was YOU! Geez I been too busy in my head.............Missed you girlfriend!

Beware of the rigid belly! Sometimes (especially with a cat who has crystals) it can mean he has blocked again. Is he making it to the litter box? Watch for drops of blood, even watery brown specks, in and around the box. The vet will be able to check for sure but our check missed it the second time. The antibiotic shot didn't work in time. Also, have there been any stressful changes in your home? We discovered that rather than typical infections, our cat's blockages were a direct result of stress. $2,500 to learn how not to stress the cat out stressed ME out! If that's the issue, however, ask for Composure feline treats. They're all natural cat destressers. Kitty's glass of wine ;) also, wet foods, preferably with cranberry as a top ingredient. Good luck! Our guy was near death but has since doubled in size and is doing great. Keep us posted!

My sister in law gave out goodie bags for their daughters first birthday a while back & gave out permanent markers. My other brothers kid wanted to be green like the hulk & drew his entire face green. He had to go to school like that & it is still one of the favorite stories we tell when we get together. Hope the kitty is ok.

Well, I brought him in-he is blocked. Poor guy is in so much pain, so they took him right in for emergency surgery. general anesthesia, pain meds (I could use some myself) UA, CBC, etc...3 nights in the hospital. The cost? 1890. And that's without the meds and food he has to be on when I pick him up. I almost fainted. 1300 in November, almost 2K this time. I'm just hoping he's going to be ok-poor guy didn't move even when the vet walked in, and normally he flies off the table.

I love him, so there's of course no question but now my mind is spinning where to "borrow" from to pay for this.

Sharpies, in colors that clash with the wall color. Yup.

I was way too busy to post yesterday! Hope everyone had blessed a zizzen pesach and a glorious Easter!

I ended up with 16 eggs for my 1st week of eggs! They looked so lovely and when I placed them on the egg tray I just got misty eyed! My girls were perfect ladies with all the visitors to the coop. Some were even regaled with an "egg song". I was lucky to have 4 of my sons, their familes, wives, and finacee. It was the firs time that I was able to do so since the house is now put together from Sandy's destruction. My home looked normal once again! I made 9 racks of lamb chops (72) and only 4 chops remained. My boys can still eat like they are teenagers! Next week, my son Michael and his family arrive from California. It will be wonderful to have all 5 sons and all 7 grandchildren together! It's going to be lots of, fun, noise and food......and delicious eggs for breakfast!

SQUEE! I have babies!!!

Three little Ameraucanas named Hershey, Phyllis and Mabel. I have a brooder pen set up in an extra-large portable dog kennel (the kind with solid sides and bottom).
I was planning to keep them in the garage but that big grump of a husband I have insisted they would be too cold

so they're actually in the corner of my living room. I caught him snuggling one and singin to it earlier. Lord knows I can't tell out mutual friends but you guys are fair game.

1st step of my chicken journey has been taken!
Congrats on your babies!! SO exciting!! Wishing you much luck and tons of laughs!

Happy Easter...girls are singing their Easter song for the entire neighborhood this morning..
Got up super early to go to Sayville to the bakery and of course nothing is ever straightforward for me. Line out the door and ten minutes into the wait an elderly man (84) ahead of me decides to pass out.why is it that unless you look straight at a person ,point your finger at them and give them a command they won't do anything. Suzanne maybe your daughter will know the answer to that. I did not yell but had to raise my voice to get anyone to do what I told them to do.i got pretty scared, he was breathing but for the life of me I couldn't get a pulse. Hadnt taken his blood pressure meds. Didn't want to go with the ambulance, wanted to drive home. I was having none of that. Talked to his wife told her he was heading to south side. Hopefully everything works out for him
Ps sold out of my favorite cruller....( for you newbies ,I am joking)
Carol
Wow Carol! If that ever happens to me, I want you to be right behind me too! You were put in the right place at the right time! Proud of you Girl!!! You rock!

Woken up by sweet 7 year old granddaughter at 5am. "Can we watch a movie or play a game?" Sure, Jessie. So we watched Heidi on Netflix until we got hungry for breakfast. Cheesy eggs and matzah. Then at 9am I was out at the ChickArena improvising a temporary "playpen" for my four hens out in the backyard. Set a water bowl, feed bowl and makeshift nesting box (recycling bin turned on its side and lined with woodshavings) in the playpen. Then took down all the heavy duty tarps that enclose the whole Arena all winter to keep out the winter winds. Then spent the next three and a half hours emptying every last thing out of the ChickArena so I could do the annual major Spring cleanup. Took out bowls, strainers, plastic bags, clothespins, jars of dried mealworms, boxes of DE, grit and calcium bits, four big metal trash bins filled with layerfeed, UltraKibble, scratch and BOSS; brushes, brooms, rakes, stormwindow panes, and on and on. A year's worth of flotsam and jetsam. At 2:30 "Sam" and his two friends arrived. Sam answered my craigslist ad about a month ago: the ad offered my year's worth of chicken manure/woodshavings free of charge to anyone who would shovel it ALL out of the ChickArena and take away half of it for their gardens, and leave the other half with me for my gardens. There were a total of at least nine huge black leaf-collection plastic bags. I don't know for sure because DH began adding it to our vegetable garden's seven-month old compost heap immediately. Should be good and "ripe" by May 15th for sure. Took them about an hour to empty the year's worth of Deep Litter Method's stuff. And so, at about 4pm I turned my hose on full force and blasted the playhouse coop, and the little wooden henhouse and all the walls and ceiling of the ChickArena. Then scrubbed it all down by hand, using a solution of "natural soap" and Oxine and water. Then hose rinsed it all. After two hours, the sopping wet ground in the Arena perked enough to let the chickens back in and I finally put them to bed at 7:00 and then raced the last of the Passover visitors to the train station for a 7:30 train back to Brooklyn. (Some kinfolk stayed three days, some seven days and one stayed eight days. ) I am EXHAUSTIPATED ! (sic) Of the 16 guests at the Seder and for the rest of the Passover, three were here with stomach flu, four with burning sore throat head cold and the 9 year old had a fever of over 102. And a fine ole time was had by all. Lots of chocolate covered matzah and chocolate egg creams were consumed. And my daughter's cooking and baking and roasting was yummy delicious. (Had the last of her brisket for supper tonight.) I shall now indulge with either a shot of Southern Comfort or two Advils (never both) and take to my bed. Tomorrow I have to wash and rinse and dry the flotsam and jetsam and store it away and also will empty about ten bags of fresh woodshavings into the ChickArena. Roberta, I'm ready for the two new girls whenever you're ready to bring 'em. Smiles and waves to you all, -Carolyn

Wow Carolyn, You make me happy to be a catholic. I only had company for one day! ...... and no body was sick! LOL
