Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Thank god my son can go back to Boston today.he came down to Foxwoods to have a visit with us and was suppose to go back yesterday. It was very stressful. He was so worried about his girlfriend who was basically trapped in their apartment that he really didn't enjoy himself.
I did get to see him for a few hours though came and went on Thurs. had to get back for the dog and chickens.

Roberta, is lock down the beginning of the 18 th day or the end, so they get a full 18 days of rotating?

My EE have a different shell color when they first start laying and right after a molt. As Roberta said ,it is an entirely different coating than the Marans. I've even scratched " let me out" on my Marans shell.

Welcome all you newbies if I've missed anyone.

Forgot to tell everyone I went to the surgeon yesterday and I don't need surgery. Just doesn't want me doing anything crazy so the Olympic trials are out since I can't throw the discus.lol

I think someone new laid the funky color egg..today I got a more solid color. The girls are digging up worms and being awful funny today after last nights storm.

Queen chick, I hope your son can visit again when it's not such a stressful time. I know I feel like I lost an entire day yesterday. I heard the MIT shooting on the news and stayed glued to the scanner from then on ...it was a scary evening and night and I don't live there. I have some friends in Boston and some distant relatives but just listening in and waiting was crazy. I turned around at the end of the day and felt so guilty for not getting anything done all day.

Best wishes for a nice weekend.

Congratulations! Sending you hugs and kisses and best wishes! Tina
Well, it's official. Bobby and I were married at 4pm this afternoon. The Inn's dog, Marley, came in to join us immediately following the ceremony, and later the resident hen, Penny, dropped by on our porch. I felt right at home!

Here's a photo for y'all (Heather's new accent is catching on...)

Had a few busy days ... Congratulations Suzanne and Booby. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness! :)

I everyone. I had my first chicken death today.
My blue wheaten Americana. Don't know why. She wasn't sick and it wasn't an attack she died locked in the pen this morning. I'm so heart broken. :(
