Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Roberta, I just had a thought. Countryside Organics has a dealer program. You could become a dealer and get your feed cheaper, and also sell it if you want to. I'm sure you use enough on your own to qualify for that pricing.

Then I would probably have to store it, which will never happen.
My house is FULL. Good idea, maybe will look into it after the holidays.
My brain won't process that right now.

Al, I remember that you said you added the UltraKibble. I like the content of that. All the feeds I've checked use soy for their protein. I guess that's just how it goes. Do your girls free range? Because mine don't eat that much actual feed. I assume it's because the majority of their intake is from what they find in the yard. Also, the three little ones are still little, so probably don't eat as much as the older two.

I'll give the Layena a try. I can get it in Riverhead, which really is no big thing for me since I'm out that way at least once a month.

I'm going to have to work on a better storage system I guess. I think the reason the Nutrena got moldy so fast is because it's very bready. I don't mind dumping it!

Heading off to Saugerties now, but I'll have my laptop.

Almost forgot the reason I signed on!

Bobby and I went to our usual local coffee shop for breakfast. It was so crowded, we had to park in a sort of alley that leads to a big empty back parking lot. As we were returning to the car, I swore I heard a rooster.

(A couple of days ago I thought I heard a rooster but assumed it was Bobby goofing around with his sound effects app. He does that.)

I asked Bobby if he heard it, and just then it crowed again. We drove to the back parking lot to confirm it, and sure enough a house on the street that backs the commercial property has a really deep backyard with what appears (through privacy fencing) to be a chicken coop and, sure enough, rooster(s).

Inspector Gadget "google earthed" the location, we got the address and drove past. No indication from the outside that there are chickens there, but apparently the guy is a landscaper. I think I'll hire him. He must have great fertilizer!

What Town ordinance??

I just thought I was hearing things. I do that.

Oh, and I just e-mailed Countryside Organics.... will see about a dealer program.
Thanks, Al. Looked quick at their website, they seem to care about what's going on.
