Al, I remember that you said you added the UltraKibble. I like the content of that. All the feeds I've checked use soy for their protein. I guess that's just how it goes. Do your girls free range? Because mine don't eat that much actual feed. I assume it's because the majority of their intake is from what they find in the yard. Also, the three little ones are still little, so probably don't eat as much as the older two.

I'll give the Layena a try. I can get it in Riverhead, which really is no big thing for me since I'm out that way at least once a month.

I'm going to have to work on a better storage system I guess. I think the reason the Nutrena got moldy so fast is because it's very bready. I don't mind dumping it!

Heading off to Saugerties now, but I'll have my laptop.

I like the UltaKibble and I think that is part of why our girls are still laying. A bag lasts forever too.

Have a safe trip!

I really think they are a great operation. When I place an order it ships out the same day and they even have UPS tell you by immediate email it was dropped off so you don't forget to take it in if it's raining. Plus, their product smells good enough to eat.

Who's been spending too much time with the chickens??

Someone once said, and I believe it was on BYC, to taste what you are feeding your chickens. If it tastes good then they should like it. I have tasted three brands so far. The Countryside tasted the best.

You're right, Suzanne, I am spending too much time with the chickens.

I haven't a clue. If we post it here I don't think anyone will see it. If you think it is a good idea for me to put it on the first post, like we did with first names, then I can do that.

Unfortunately, there is no way to make a sticky unless you are an administrator.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just want to tell everyone because I know you all understand. I had a bad dream last night that my hens were attacked. One of my australorps was hit the hardest. Her wing was badly mangled in the dream. Of course, it was my favorite, Betty. Betty in real life is more like a dog than a chicken. I guess I am worried about them today. Too many hawks around for my liking. And, I have no one to come lock them up at bedtime. Believe it or not, I am thinking of leaving the Thanksgiving celebrations early so I can come lock them up. Since it is Thanksgiving, I don't want to bother the neighbors who normally do this for me.

Hope they are ok today.

Just ONE chocolate pecan pie. My chestnuts never came, and after 2 e-mails to complain about $75.00 worth of nothing arriving from Delmarvelous chestnuts, it looks like I am saved from that chore.
I do happen to have 2 20lb turkeys in the fridge, will have to do something with them this weekend.
One I knew about, but the second snuck itself into my car last night.
I stopped at a few food pantries on the way home, all already closed.

I think I will cook it for the coworker that snuck it in to the mix, and give it back to him on Monday!
Hah. Payback!
