Donna, it is the BEST excuse to get out of a "party" that I don't want to be at.
Sorry, gotta leave and lock up my chickens, bye!
It works like the couldn't get a babysitter line. Love it!

Donna, I agree with Roberta.

But if you don't want to leave the party early, I'm sure your girls will be okay. I don't think you'd really have to worry about predators until later at night, would you?

I kept my girls cooped because I never know if my daughter's going to be around to lock up the coop door. I put in some rehydrated alfalfa, some apple peels and an extra helping of scratch mixed with meal worms. Thanksgiving dinner for the hens. I still feel guilty though.

If it's only a question of locking up the coop, I'd still ask your neighbors. I'm sure they wouldn't mind a couple of minutes away from their guests. I find people to be nicer than I give them credit for - and most of them love the whole chicken thing...

Hi, I may leave early anyway because I have my two dogs at home too, can't leave them alone for too long either. My husband hates hearing this, I had no idea when I married him that he doesn't really like animals or should I say having animals and the responsibilities they carry.

Separate cars?
I understand what you're saying. There are things I discovered about Bobby that I had no idea about before he moved in. Quite an eye-opener.

Glad to hear all was well. We got home around 9 and ours were all on their roost. Just had to close the pop door leading from the run. In fact, I have to go out there now and tuck the girls in for the night.

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
