Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Here's a picture of my little baby in her "chick bra". "Chick Sling"? She seems to like it. She got very perky, then fell asleep. Now she's pecking at it and me.

You realize that if she turns out to be "he" (and survives), one of you is going to have to take him. I would only give him away to one of my BYC friends!

PLEASE NOTE: OBJECTS IN PICTURE ARE SMALLER THAN THEY APPEAR!

As you can see, she's very happy with it. Bobby thinks I have completely lost my mind. (Which perhaps I have.) If he rolls his eyes any harder, they'll disappear around the back of his head. Think I'll take the chick sling off for dinner out, though. And I will be having fish!

OMG that is SO CUTE!!!!!

Maxx, I'm heading up your way on Memorial day weekend...Irish festival in East Durham. We go every year! (It's like a pilgrimage for us)
I adore the catskills, and as a child my family and I stayed at the Nevele, The Concord and Grossingers. I remember having a good time, but I was pretty young.

And btw, in my research about resting mail order hatching eggs, there's a post from someone who rested 4 dozen for different times - and got the best hatch rate with a 24 hour rest period. I'm only doing 12 for the LS eggs because that will make the two hatches 24 hours apart. I didn't want to keep the WO eggs out of the bator any longer - they rested about 36 hours. Plus, I have extras on the LS eggs. So the LS eggs go in the bator at 11 pm tonight.

100 degrees, 50% humidity. Following hovabator directions and not worrying too much about the numbers. Fingers crossed!

I would drop that humidity to between 20-30%.
Okey dokey. Will do.

I just put Lavinia back in the brooder. I dipped her beak in the water because I'm worried she's not drinking. I put her down and she wobbled over and started drinking on her own! Yay!!

She's got a long way to go, but it's a positive sign...
