My sister in law just called to ask if there was a lost and found chicken place she could go. It appears her friend living on Horizon Lane in Levittown has had a hen walking around her yard for the past few days. She's posted pics on facebook and it sounds like maybe a rhode Island red. Sounds like a well taken care of chicken as it jumped in her lap when she sat on her chair. She is currently locked in her garage with some food (not appropriate chicken feed though) and water.
Anyone know if any levittown people on here that keep chickens? The woman who has her is Sue Maran and her number is 516-306-8830. I suggested she walk around the neighborhood and ask people if they know who she might belong to. If they can't find the owner, anyone willing to take her in? She's friendly, appears to be healthy and clean. She wanted to take her to WHite post farms but I don't think they take good care of their chickens there.

I am so encouraged by the fact that not once has anyone said, "Oh a Bouvier... are you sure?" when I mention it to them. Apparently nothing but good news. It's a weird feeling for me to have bought a puppy before it was born, all my dogs have been rescues. So far though she is terrific. She gets along with the big and little chickens and the girls and my husband, Mr Crankypants. I think this is a good match, I really, really hope so.Sweet Puppy Heather. I used to know many people in the bouvier world, when they were a rare breed. I used to breed and show Cane Corso, and the Bouvier were always right ahead of us in breeds. Great people and great dogs. Good luck with her.
WOW! No way Suzanne, it's much nicer than the chicken coop part of the Bronx Zoo. They have one in the Children's Zoo section. It's gorgeous!
I'm sorry to hear she died after all you did for her. Do you ever take your chickens in for necropsy or do you just do a best guess?Love it!
Bonnie died this afternoon. The good news, is when I went to check on her, she had some kind of brown goo running out of her mouth.![]()
Her crop did feel funny, maybe (hopefully) just a crop infection. Not contageous.
I have a pip on one orp egg!
And Carolyn, don't worry, your girls are in the house. I didn't want anything to happen to them, after how hard it was to get them!
