WOW, he sure is purdy! I'd have guessed he a she! wow, am i off base here or what!!!

No, you are not offbase...folks on the polish thread could swear that he is a she....I have even got to a point where I started considering DNA sex testing... However this litte stinker is crowing up a storm...we really want him to be a her...

Thanks for the pics! I really enjoyed the show - especially all the creative backgrounds.

So, I was thinking that the woman who was gonna take my roo and extra hen had backed out, but she called this afternoon. She's trying to pin her husband down (I offered to help) but said she most likely was taking them and would plan to come tomorrow.

Could I jinx myself here and mention that I feel very lucky that I had a hatch that only 1 chick survived and it was a hen. Then I had a hatch and out of 5 eggs only 1 survived - also a hen. Then out of another 8 eggs and 3 survivors - 2 hens and 1 roo.

Other than being the angel of death where hatching is concerned, I've been very lucky with my hens.

So now that I'm going to be at my target of 12 hens, all different, what shall I get next? I'd love an Exchequer Leghorn. But that would be 13 and you can't just get 1 chick. You need at least 2 so they'll each have a buddy. Hmmm.

I think I need to go back to work...

Ohhh....I so feel for you. It's sad parting with them when you have to.
I did have a golden sebright who crowed and crowed. But she was a hen. We just were amazed. She layed eggs but took the roos spot in the flock and was assertive but submissive to me entirely. Was amazing to watch actually. She would fluff up and so tiny as she was chase my dogs off her little flock of standard size hens. Funny.......and so much fun to watch.

I wish you luck with your polish guy. You just never know.............
