Just decided to join.Have been reading your posts first. I'm in mastic beach, long island. I totally enjoy having my chickens. I am lucky to have a fairly big backyard for my area. Sorry if this post interupts your topics just wanted to make myself known before I subscribe to get the posts.

Hello, luvmy33. Welcome to the Southern NY thread. I used to teach at Moriches Elementary in Shirley. And I love Barntique Village out that way!

My yard is not big, but it's gonna be as full of chickens as the town and my DP will allow!

Stoopid (I hate calling you that) thanks for the tip about the frozen corn. Just checked up on my little prisoner. She let me pet her under her beak and cooed at me a little. I can't wait to let her out tomorrow. Just pray she gets the message.

And I swear if those chicks knock that waterer over one more time, little tiny chicken heads will roll...

Just checked the ingredients of the new feed I bought for Gladys. Nutrena 16%. Lots of soy. I take it that's a bad thing?

So what feed should I be getting?

mine is 6 hens no roosters
never researched about the eggs
my friends dont mind i have chickens
one nieghbor a few houses up didnt even know i have them
til i told her today
