when can you start to tell if a silkie is a roo or not?
where is Al?

Sorry, I've been on the side the past week. It has been a rough one. Another of our dogs died last Thursday, and our son got married on Saturday. Most of the rest of the time I've been dealing with my arthritis. I've tried to keep up reading all the posts, and glad that everyone is talking up chickens.

It is also better for me to try and limit the time I stay on the computer. It is very easy to spend too much time on it. I am involved in a cancer support group on the Internet, as some of you know, and that can be a downer sometimes, too.

I see a few of us are having a rough time. Life's little, and sometimes big, ups and downs do level out after a while. You just have to stick with it and know that all things have a way of falling into place. Try to enjoy the good times while they are happening. Our minds almost always drift toward the negative if we allow it to. Keep positive thoughts and actions going as long as you can.

On a lighter note, the wedding was wonderful, and the kids called and said it looks like they're close to getting their offer accepted on the house they want. I start a new med for the arthritis today, too. Overall, life is good.

Great to hear from you, Al. I'm sorry about your dog - we all know how rough that can be.

Congratulations on the wedding! Weddings are so great - such hope and happiness. Something we all need in times like these.

Sometimes I get too involved with the computer, too. Better to be out there living life!

Good luck with the new meds...

Hi Al. Sorry about the dog.
I clicked on the "spoiler", nuttin happened.
I too, am starting a new med. If insurance allows it....
It's cooler outside for now, let's see how humid it gets after the rain.

Ahhhhhh 74 degrees is like HEAVEN. I have been looking through the HUGE garbage bag full of Mohair yarn that I got from freecycle, and WOW-10 skeins of 100% Aran wool!! the soft kind they make Irish sweaters from! Probably 30 skeins of mohair, all different colors, and some chenille, and cotton as well. I hit the yarn jackpot! Now I'm trying to decide what to make! A few scarves, maybe one or two for the outreach center, a few hats for the kids and the outreach as well. I'm thinking of maybe making some to sell with my candles and soaps at a craft fair that my gf keeps promising she'll do with me...Maybe a throw blanket for the living room-there's 7 skeins that will match my terracotta walls perfectly!
Mohair fetches a good price since it's SO warm! (unless we have a winter like last year!) It's exciting.

My son is at weight training this morning, so I have to get hime at 10, then I need to start putting stuff in the attic. I need him to help me with this-he hands stuff up to me, so I don't have to run up and down the stairs! I'm in cleaning up mode, since tomorrow is payday and that's food shopping day.

I hate food shopping, but these little creeps insist on eating.

The girls have started following me around the yard, like I'm made of meal worms. It's rather funny. I have run out of applesauce so I have to get more creative with treats. Any ideas?

What have all of you got planned for this less hot and sticky day?

I'm so sorry about your dog. I know how heartbreaking it is to lose one of our furry or feathered kids.

I hope your new medication works for you. This weather can't be helping either.

Congratulations on the wedding! I adore weddings, such a clear affirmation of the future. I wish them all the best life has to offer them.

I hope your insurance company comes through for you. Prescription plans are the worst sometimes. My fingers are crossed for you!

Don;t mention the "H" word!!! I'm finished being sticky and stinky.

I can hardly stand to be with myself in this weather. Why doesn't deodorant do what it's supposed to?

I'm not sure of age, but I think the roos have an afro and the hens look like the Ramones.

It's all about the crow to be honest. I thought I had the most gorgeous white pullet a couple of years back and at over 6 months old it crowed. I was really sad over that one.
But I've then sworn a pullet was a boy till he /she just never did crow!
They are very difficult to sex period. It's called the waiting game.
