If it was that important, I would have done the same.

Roberta, I actually drove past mary's street yesterday on my way visiting friends in Middletown. I think she is about 25 minutes tops from me where I now live.

Good morning to everyone on this beautiful clear and cool Sunday. Enjoy it while you can!

And to you also! What a gorgeous morning...

Gonna take a long beach walk and work off some calories I ate last night. Pick up some shells and sea glass. Maybe even clean my coop/run later. I feel energized.

Hey all -

Give these places a call, bet one of them would do it for you.

Was busy yesterday cleaning and reconfiguring the coop, and hacking away at the zucchini forest in the garden. I actually got John to help and he was, like, "Hey! This is hard!", lol. But it's fun when the weather is as nice as it was yesterday. We ended up buying a few sacks of pea gravel from HD and putting those down in the outside run that doesn't have a roof, and putting them down where the waterer goes. Then a layer of old playsand that was piled up in the woods, and then four cinder blocks for the waterer. So far so good. We'll see if that helps with the drainage any. I couldn't dig down since we have a layer of hardware mesh on the floor but maybe this will keep the mud away in any event. I still have a big covered roof area that is also open on the sides, and that I left covered with wood chips. I'll try to take some pictures later on.

We went to a friend's house for a pot luck last night and of course Gallena decided to get herself lost right at the last minute. I was sure she'd been taken by a hawk or had hopped a fence into a neighbor's yard and was contemplating the awful idea of having to ring their doorbells and say, "Hi, do you happen to have a chicken wandering around your back yard?" when she finally showed up. I ended up having to tackle her on the compost heap but got her inside. The dog is starting to be useful in herding the chickens, although I'm not sure they would agree, lol. Everyone loved the White Gazpacho, I'm totally using this every summer I get too many cucumbers from now on.

We also discussed the idea of hitting NJ fair on a weekday since it's so much closer to us than Syracuse. Since it is planning around several moms and small children I won't know what date until about 24hrs before hand but hopefully we'll see some of you there. Maybe we'll even try to visit Space Farms but it is a long drive for little folks to still have energy. Especially since I will probably make them stop at Tractor Supply on the way home, lol.

I am going to be bombarded with cherry tomatoes in about a month, need to start thinking of things now. then again, I may just get a bumper crop of fat chipmunks in the yard too.

Off to the beach to find beach glass - thanks for the idea Mags!

Wow, you ladies are right. This has to be one of the ten best days of the year. Last night we hung out on the deck with the kids until midnight. The humidity dropped as a breeze kicked in and we had a great time talking and barbecuing well into the night. This bright and clear morning was the topper.

Enjoy the day!

That's really a great video. Six million views! These guys could make it big down on the farm.

Sounds like you've gotten an answer to the waterer problem, Heather. Hope it works well.
