Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Just checking in and saying hello to all. Summer has got me soooo busy. So busy that I find it hard to get on this puter and post. I see a few new friends have joined in the thread. Welcome to all newcomer's. After a brief scan I saw Al has a new pup, congrats. He is a great looking dog. I hope everyone is doing well and I will try my best to get on here more often. Oh and I see it has been a year with this thread. Thanks Al for getting a good one going. It has the best participants, no judging, mud slinging and back biting going on in this thread. Happy Anniversary

Rich, glad to see you're doing well and still hangin in with the thread. As soon as the weather gets cooler we'll probably all be back on the Puter a little more.

Are the all from the same litter or are you going to breed them?
different litters.... Maybe have a littler or two but not any where NEAR back yard breeder level... My dad loves this type of dog, so thats the main reason be with 3 girls and one boy say 2 litters their whole life and 1200 per pup, you can understand the advantage =]

This is Symphony, she weighs 4.6 Lbs!

This is Melody/Honey/Cinderalla (name not decided as of yet xD) She weighs 3 Lbs!!!!!

Caleb, glad to see you're back! We were worried about you.

Your dogs are absolutely handsome. Looks like a few of us are adding new companions to our homes. Our town has a limit of four dogs per household. How does that work out if we apply chicken math to the equation? Hehe...

thanks al! It feels good to be back =] missed all of you =] and thankfully We have not heard of a dog limit, so we can always claim innonence although due to of where we live I doubt their is one.... After we get these next 2 the total will be 6 lol thats alot of dogs, and I want to get a big dog thats mine sooooo dog math much?

Just returned from vacation to find all our chickens dead inside coop renters took care not sure how or what got in... 2 questions what killed them and how if they we inside and where can we find pullets nearby to purchase. Sad in Putnam county

Valeria. I am so sorry for the loss of your chickens. It had to be heartbreaking.

If the coop was left open it could be a number of critters if you found them dismembered. Racoons have been on the comeback here and bobcats have been known to be in PC.

I don't know of any local suppliers but someone should pop in with an answer to that question.

Welcome to the thread. Lots of great people here.

Al

I just had an idea - would seaweed in smal quantitiesbe good for the chickens? Trace minerals & salts and all that? Any thoughts?

Al I can't believe how many people have watched that clip either, good for them. Maybe they'll get a trip to one of the daytime talk shows out of it.

Yes, I believe that some organic chicken feed manufacturers are beginning to add kelp to their products.

Caleb, I made a mistake, the limit is actually three where I am. For a while we did have four, though. Must have been dog math.

We just had gotten our first real big dog to be a few days ago. After having had 5 that were all 20 lbs or less, we are testing the waters with a Pointer mix that should weigh in at about 50-60lbs. When he is fully grown. He's 19lbs right now and he's 15 weeks old. Should be interesting. Had large dogs when I was a kid and always liked them. Hope you get your big dog soon.

Again, glad you are back home, safe and sound.

Well went on the chicken run today.Met Tina and her daughter and Jenne and her mom?oh ya and Jennes dog.She left the diner parking lot with an unbelievable number of polish kids. it was really nice meeting everyone.Next time we'll have to have lunch.

On my way home I stopped at a Tractor Supply store. Very nice.. I ran into a ton of traffic on the way home.2 1/2 hours up and 3 1/2 home. At one point the thermometer read 110 as I was driving through NYC.

Al it looks lke your dog could have some border collie in him. My brother has had several and they are amazing dogs. Good luck with him.

Oh, Carol! I'm so sorry your trip home was so long. You have a big heart to have done all that driving. I was on the run up untill 8pm when we took Lindsey to see Batman at the drive-in. What a long day!

I had a great visit and was so pleased to meet you, Jenne, Jenne's mom, and ChrisF also. My daughter had so much fun meeting everyone and all the chickens. After we left, she talked nonstop about the birds and Jenne's gorgeous golden retriever.
