Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Nope, I'm in Brookhaven. Allowed 6 hens. sigh.
Darn!! Well, those nosy neighbors aren't making any friends are they? Jeez, you'd think new people would lay low and try to make friends. Do you think it's the crowing in the morning? Or are they home all day? I'd say keep them inside until 9am, when noise restrictions lift for the day? I don't know if you lock them up at all.

There has to be something you can do to keep your boys.

I hate people sometimes.

More crowing this morning from the last of the Massachusetts bunch.hell have to go next week. 6 out of 6 chicks were roosters. Talk about a waste of valuable fed. My landscapers assistant said he would take all my roosters and bring me back half of them butchered. I feel sad but at least I will know what I am eating. I just can't keep them for any length of time because of my "shirty"neighbors. I really love hatching my own chicks but it hurts when I have to get rid of the boys.

Carol, I'm in the same boat. Kind of frustrating to spend 4.5 months growing out chicks and then having to part with them. There doesn't seem to be any way to recoup any of the expense raising the silkie Roos, since they are not really big enough to even eat.

Actually the black skin makes them very popular with Asian cuisine. Some sort of medicinal benefits they believe. You might get a fair price for them in Flushing.

I'm currently without Internet, under the weather and hosting various in-laws in my house at all times. Lurking though, so hope you all are doing ok soon!

I too have a pullet that may be laying, but sweetness it better not be Tiana the Wellsummer since the color is ivory! Yep, cross-beaked white egg laying - never ordering chicks by mail again I think.

Hi Heather, sorry to hear you're under the weather. And invaded...

I'm actually enjoying today. For a change. I think I've realized it's totally over with my school district. It helps to have some sort of closure. Besides, Bobby and I were both so depressed yesterday, I think my brain just said, ENOUGH!

(of course, it could also be the big bag of yarn I just ninjaed into the house...)

Oh I'm sorry you're feeling poorly!! No internet AND in-laws? I think there's a law that's being broken.

Just ask the girls who's egg it is. I'm sure someone will raise a wing and admit it. I'm sure it's a lovely egg. (I think summer vacation needs to end, I'm really losing it!!)

You may need to pay for the $1.99 optional photo hosting. I think Tapatalk may limit the number of pictures you can upload unless you purchase the hosting.
Ugh. I didn't even know there was that option. because I'm not thinking-there's always an option to spend money. ALWAYS.

Thanks, though-I'll look into it. My phone and computer don't like each other, since the computer is 7 years old, hard drive full, and it's a bit touchy. Phone is new, and snubs the computer as well.

Yeah-I need a vacation from the kids vacation.

We got our 2nd egg today! We found it in the nest box next to one of the golf balls. It is small and adorable.

By the way, I really like the cat litterbox that we chose for the nest box. The lid lifts right off so we can easily check inside for eggs without having to squat down and peer into the opening. It's very convenient!

YAY!!! It's a nice color too! bet it'll be delicious! I love the neon golf balls too. I'm going to put plastic easter eggs in the nest boxes today. Hopefully the girls will start laying soon!!

Good morning; I just let out the girls and one of the young EE roosters mounted my Charlotte. It wasn't pretty.he has to go. Poor Charlotte is a NN and he grabbed her by the skin.
Nice egg Tina congrats.
I'm going to knit like crazy this week so I can finish this afghan and start sewing again. I miss it,
