Rosie, and anyone else that uses Agway in Port Jeff....
Whenever I bought feed, it has usually been around $14-15.00 per 50lb bag, I usually go to Riverhead.
We all have heard about the corn SHIrT and prices going higher, I heard around 20%.
About 2 weeks ago I got feed in Riverhead and it was like $16 something.
Last week I was in Port Jeff, and got a bag of chick grower. They charged me $19.75.
I started planning on getting rid of some birds..... thought this is gonna get crazy.
I went to Agway in Riverhead today. The SAME feed, SAME SKU, I was charged $15.15!
WHAT the F????? I plan on going back th PJ and ripping someone. That is just insane!
Just warning you... I'm not spending any more money in PJ!

Thanks for that post. I was thinking of checking with PJ because I didn't pick up feed in Riverhead this week and I'm running low but don't feel like going all the way to Riverhead. Guess I'll make do until my next Riverhead trip.

Big noise coming from the coop this morning. One of the light sussex chickens stalled on the exit ramp and everyone else was honking at her. Had to let them all out early just to get some peace in the backyard.

Of course, the rat found a new way in to the coop. More reinforcement today. ack.

Good morning all, well I sent an email to Purina concerning the price gouging happening here on Long Island. I told them that as a small group of back yard farmers we need help. I asked them to help us. Let's see what kind of response I get.
Going to NYC today to see Cirqure de soulie.Man is it going to be HOT.
Rehomed 5 roosters last night. It is not fun having to do that. I hate my neighbors.

Well....interesting fact. 49 days after hatching out their eggs 2 of my 3 broody moms have begun laying again! FINALLY. Its been since June since I've gotten a fresh egg from them.
I notice only the silkie still breaking up treats for the peeps out of the 3 moms as well. The other 2 are gobbliong everything up like they are "done with that mommy stuff".

I guess I'll keep my dh agter all. He went out and bought $300 worth of lumber and a nice screen door to rebuild my coop/run area on his vacation.
Post holes are dug and posts drying in their new cement shoes.:<)) I'll add pics as it gets more interesting.
No more bending opver for eggs.....sigh. Love it! They will have their own little deck as well I think.

That's awesome! Guess he's a keeper after all.

Beautiful...I had a nice size honeydew that I was giving a little more time on the vine and yesterday one of the girls somehow got to it.. I'll have to get one from the farmers market and sneak it into the house so my husband doesn't find out. The things I do for these fuzzy butts.

I'm pretty sure the only thing Purina will do is tell you to join the coupon program. They release them 4 times a year.
Their coupons can also be found in secret hiding places, like the Poultry press, and TSC stores, which aren't around me.
I have never used the coupons, because $2.00 off of a bag that is $5 more isn't making me want to buy it.
And since I am listed on their database as having a larger flock, they want me to buy 6 bags at a time, so I can't even use the coupon.

Heading out to de-poop the coop. (I'm in Dr. Seuss mode. Yesterday I heard there was a drop in the hop crop.)

I'm going to try Hicksville Agway for feed. They carry Southern States (Agway brand?). I'll report back on prices. Another beautiful day!
