Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Better and better every day. Ten minute walks thru the house every two hours and ten DEEP breaths to follow are helping the healing. Lots of naps. Managed to fold a very little pile of laundry, and went thru the week's accumulation of piled up maile. Most of it junk.
Back in bed now for some more tv. Then g'night time.
Thanks for asking.
Hope you are doing fine. Your projects make me dizzy!
Stay strong.

Good to hear you're feeling better. Like you said, a little every day. Lots of naps!! Good idea. Maybe my bee sting needs a nap too. Think I can make that fly?

I think my NJ buyer is backing out. So I posted Leon/Mary on craigslist/hudson valley again. I can't decide if I want to take the chance on waiting til October to take them to Sussex to sell them. I guess if he starts crowing I can always ship him out to Bethpage right away.

How would I get in touch with the guy in Bethpage, anyway?

What guy in Bethpage...?
At OBVR? There's a show there at the end of the month... if it's a heritage breed, they may want him.

I did get something I DIDN'T want: a bee sting on the inside of my lower lip. I had gotten funnel cake (my first mistake) and had finished it. I put my finger to my lips to lick off some sugar and I guess there was a bee there (on my finger or my lip, I don't know). OWWW! It still hurts. Fortunately, I'm not allergic (Bobby is), so there's just some minor swelling and a lot of pain. We were on our way out when it happened.

An ice pop helped!

Yes but did it cause you to look like Angelina Jolie all day is what I want to know? And should I consider doing it on purpose?

My landscapers are used to my garden's insanity and I speak a little Italian and know enough Spanish nouns to get the point across. They're real good guys. One of them grew up with chickens and has a pet cockatiel so he is always interested in what is going on in the coop. He was very surprised to meet Nutmeg and Cinnamon and couldn't believe they were both $15 apiece. I grew tomatillos for them this summer and dumped/gave them as many string beans as they could carry off and lots of zucchinis. Right now they're helping out with a small masonary job on the back patio on a Sunday, which is really awesome of them. My job was just to clean out the coop and bring them water, much easier (muy facile)

So we went apple picking yesterday at a nice place in North Salem that also keeps chickens, goats, and alpacas. All the animals looked happy and healthy but I couldn't believe how freaking adorable the alpacas were. They look like giant teddy bears. They were of course also selling the fur, the yarn, you name it. I had to take pictures for you crafty folks and I knew it would have been a disaster for y'alls budget had you been there. Luckily I know better than to assume I can make anything other than a scarf so I stopped trying ages ago. Hey, I can cook....

This shawl-type thing was so lightweight and yet cozy feeling - I thought it was the perfect wrap for fall and it looked like a simple pattern to follow.

you can't imagine how soft this is!

The natural colors were the best. Luckily my youngest didn't get a glance at the toy alpacas because I would have had to buy one.

Some pics I took today.
One of my Elephant Ear patches. good grief some ears are 35"" I LOVE them. Here is Snow Cone sizing one up.

A wonderful eBay find. Humpty Dumpty woopden egg crate with it's original cardboard egg cartons iontact. 5 layers and each holds a couple dozen. Made between 1880 and 1920 is what I am reading when I do research.

And my silkie laiod a tiny today. Here it is next to the one she laid yesterday. Size of a shooter marble.

Lastly......my 2 little 1 month old white silkies. Lav. orp to their right is a giant compared. They are really small silkies. They hatched out of impossibly little eggs that I really had worries about. But developing some beautiful feathering. I am crossing my fingers for at least 1 pullet. One is trying to chest bump the other and I just am wishing for a miracle at this point.

Oh my goodness Mags, so cute! Those Silkies - you could sell them as "Teacup Silkies"! So adorable. I love your elephant ears - what kind of conditions do they require? Do you get warmer zones because you're on an island? I'm already thinking to 2013's layout, lol. I need to incorporate more butterfly attractors and I think the elephant ears would be a nice backdrop.

Love, love, love!
