Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a long time, been
kinda bummed. I'm ok though. My girls are all big now
even the young ones are 4 months

I miss having
little chicks. My silkie is broody, I so want to stick some
fertile eggs under her but will wait till spring. MPC is
selling cream legbar eggs now, it's so tempting. I hope
everyone is well.

Has anyone's girls ever laid a "lash egg" ? When I was over Loretta's this morning she asked me to examine this very weird and gross thing she found in the nest box this morning. Can't find a whole lot of info on it but from several treads on here it fits the description. One of her hens hasn't laid in a very long while. I thought it might be from her and that having past this foreign object she might start laying again. Unfortunately I don't have any photos.take it from me it's not something you want to see before your first cup of coffee.

Also the egg had not one but TWO tiny yolks! And there was another one in the box this morning, only someone had smushed it but it had a yolk too. How cool! Still haven't caught the pullet that's responsible but kinda suspect my cross beaked Wellsummer Tiana.

Today was surreal. Left the house by 6:45. Hundreds of people taking the exams. I wanted to tell all the young kids I was on my second layoff. But that would be spoiling the surprise.

I finished each exam in 1-1/2 hours. I had about 2-1/2 hours to kill between the tests, so I did some shopping for non-perishables and then took a nap for about an hour. I baked and cooked when I got home but was so fried all I could do was watch tv and crochet. Barely even made small talk with Bobby.

Just a weird feeling day. Maybe it's lack of sleep. Or too many Mallomars...

My girlfriend brought me a box of mallomars on Friday night...my son doesn't like them (another reason I question if he is mine lol), so I proceeded to make myself feel sick eating them for him

My husband is an enabler...he just bought me a chicken keeping present....I am pretty sure its the ecoglow20 I just hope it gets here in time for my babies.

Toxic Chicken do you like mpc? I placed my order with them and they have been so kind and wonderful on the phone, I thought I was getting local chickens since they are out of ct, but didn't know they actually come from ohio ....that bummed me a bit but I am excited to get the babies...now if only I can stop calling them and adding....just one more...lol

My husband is working on the shed/coop today YAY! I am on mommy duty with the kids and laundry.

So, I'm home from the fair. NOBODY was there!

I hung around for 2 hours, talked to the beekeeping guy, admired the chickens, looked around for anyone...nobody.

Maybe next fair. Bethpage is when?

We went to the Hawkwatch Festival at the Greenwich, CT Audubon Center. Very neat! I had no idea there would be that many vendors and stuff there. There was a group there demonstrating owls and raptors - check out the gorgeous Barn Owl:








So if any of you are seeing more hawks than normal lately, apparently it's Hawk Migration time. Maybe check with the Cornell Ornithology Lab to see if you're right under any flight paths for these guys and consider keeping everyone under wraps until migration ends.

I "think" my pet chicken actually might kinda "sub-contract" breeders for certain breeds/seasons etc. Thus why they might be coming in from another state. I'd like to find out more about this actually.

I've beentoldby other Byers that they use Meyer for their orders. If you find out, I would love to know. When I called I was told they use all different reputable sources ...
