Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Woke up this morning and booked a room also. I can only go up on early Sat morning since I'm going to theVogue knitting in NYC that Fri.i booked a room at the Host hotel for the show .i should have waited and checked on here first. It has 2 queen size beds and I asked Lorreta if she would like to go ( she doesn't know yet) if anyone wants to crash I'm fine with it. I'll be leaving early Sat and can fit 2 more if Lorreta comes. I can also fit chickens for the ride home...

Toxic: Please update us on your nephew... since your note, I have been thinking about my two nieces who both died in unrelated, freak car accidents within the last 3 years....one was 19 and the other was 25 years old.

I would like Cream Legbars if they lay blue eggs....We've got EE's that lay green eggs and really prefer blue layers. Do you know what Greenfire lines your eggs are coming from? A, B or C? I am calling Greenfire today to learn a little more about their lines.

Stoopid:  Lindsey and I would be happy to lend a hand, if you want help vaccinating. May I ask if you are NPIP? If not, how do you get 90 Pullorium testing done for the shows you attend? I'd like to get CL's from Toxic, but if we must become NPIP in order to show birds, then I won't be able to get the CL's. Not sure what to do...

Dahli: Did you get your necropsy results?

Smkchk: So glad your mom decided to move. May good things happen for her.

All: Lindsey and I may attend the Poultry Congress. I would normally jump on the bandwagon, since we enjoy these type of events.. We've even been to the Equine Affaire at the Big E in the past. However, I'm feeling disappointed, frustrated and aggravated with the process of purchasing from breeders right now.  It might annoy me even further if we go to the show. I don't want to start whining, but like an idiot, a couple of weeks ago I gave another breeder a huge deposit on birds....and haven't seen them yet (***supposed to be shipped last week). And, the other breeder (from this summer) hasn't replied to my contacts about replacement birds. She may be ill again, so I'm hoping she gets back to me real soon.

My friend says that I should put a "kick me" sign on my back...

Suzanne glad to hear about your moms decision.
I just got off the phone with the doctor I use to work with at Cornell.he is going to try and get me the proceeding from the conference they just had up there last week. For the first time one of the doctors did 4 hours worth of lecturing on "the back yard flock" . You name it they talked about it.
He said I should plan on coming next year, forget Richard. I'll keep everyone posted as to how I make out.

I'm really, really happy to report that the issue with my mother has been resolved. She made the decision to put the family home on the market and find a smaller, cheaper place to live. The best part is that she has some hope and excitement about this next chapter of her life, mixed of course with her grief over leaving her current home. Her enthusiasm for life is one of the things I love most about my mom.

I may even get a new chicken to celebrate!! :yiipchick

Glad she is accepting her new circumstances , and I love your reasoning for getting a new chicken :)

Ditto ditto ditto! SO glad she's agreed to move on. She will be infinitely happier when she doesn't have a big place to take care of. We went through something similar with my in-laws; my mother in law fought moving every step of the way but now that she's somewhere smaller and easier to maintain she's much happier and has even admitted as much to us.
If you do get a new chicken, she should get to name it, I think. :)

I really am bummed I can't make it to New England this year, I feel like there is still so much learning I have to do. I can't believe I didn't think to check the dates when I scheduled this Florida trip, argh! I would even consider moving Florida but we are going with my husband's sisters and their families to Mouse World so you know that's all booked up already.

Ok, ok, ok, I might take a cream legbar if it's a pullet. I can't deal with anymore rooster rehoming right now though. Put me like last on the list though, so it's unlikely that there would be that many pullets left-over, right? John told me that he thought the two banties I have a are "waste" since their eggs will be small. ! I guess he's more into the chickens than I thought now. I see the bantams as insurance for the bigger girls though since no-one will doubt they are pets once they see those two.

I am at the Bronx Zoo today alone in the rain for my writing class. We got to feed giraffes by hand. Quite possibly one of the most amazing things ever.....

Hey any handouts or presentation decks you can get from that would be awesome. I think all of BYC would appreciate it, maybe post it in an article or something.

I want to thank everyone for their well wishes for my nephew.
He is ok, he has been staying with friends. He had a fit
because his parents have been after him to get a job or go to
school. He is 20 and has been sitting around the house for 2 years
doing nothing. They gave him slack because about 3 yrs ago he
ended up in child pych for 2 months, but they knew he had to get back
out into the workd. Anyways he called his mom to say he got a job as
a short order cook. He always talks about going to culinary school. He just
doesn't have the confidence right now to go, maybe his new job will give
him that. Hopefully he will go back home soon. I don't like the friends he is
with, drinking and drugs etc.

I contacted the sellers to ask about what line (A,B,C etc)

In the mean time both sellers are NPIP
