Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

So I am spending my Saturday night writing out bills

which sucks but also writing letters etc doing all my catching up. One of the things is a complaint letter to lowes...so remember how I told everyone about the deals with canning supplies, well one of the stores called and told me they had my order ready yada yada come get it. My DH goes to pick it up and after having an issue at the first store (they tried to give him four jars rather than four cases of twelve) I called the second store to make sure everything was waiting and ready (DH is being sweet by picking up all my shopping that I ship 2 store and I dont want him to deal with the hassles and stop being such a DH). So I am told 17 of 17 items is waiting and I find that odd since they told me in the morning that two items were missing one of the cases of 32oz jars and pectin. So I was like are you sure? Can you double check? needless to say it wasnt all there infact only five of 17 items was actually there...although they had ten items I hadnt purchased in my bags...Anyways so I wrote to customer service and I have been giving the MGR of the second store a real hard time for wasting my time etc. He hasnt been able to get the items at any store and now im dealing with the customer service online whom I just got the pleasure of writing a lovely email to. I used to work in retail and it drives me nuts to see bad customer service and lately its everywhere. I mean the UPS people I dealt with this week actually threw a package at my front step. Never rang the bell or anything. A Cashier at Michaels didn't put an item in my bag last week, and when I called she told me I probably dropped it. The manager was able to check the stores inventory and found they had one too many on the shelf (hmmm...) they fixed it but it shouldn't take so much time to get things corrected. Sorry for my rant...I will now go back to eating my Entenmanns crumb Cake and watching Chick TV...it seriously relieves all stress.

P.S. when I said Chick TV to my husband...he thought it was a real station on the TV...like lifetime :)
PPS I had to wash a butt of a chick today because it had poop stuck to it....now im watching all the chicks butt like crazy...
Well, good for you for writing those letters! It sucks that you ahd poor service, but at least now they are "on notice" that they shouldn't do it again. That Lowe's thing is almost like Bait and Switch advertising, just awful. :(

We painted a Halloween windown this morning. Mommy bought half the wrong kind of paint, oops. Hopefully she wont' be disqualified. Now getting the house prepped for dinner party at 5:00, just need husband to leave the house and stop stinking up the joint with his crabby attitude. God I love the man but is he ever a pill at times.

Pic I snapped yesterday of the ladies out for a scratch:

PS I'm on Instagram now too, can you tell? It's ridiculously addictive. I'm actually surprised by how much I love Twitter too, I think it has been taken up by lots of interesting folks. Tweeting with chicken people from here to the UK - fun!

I set up the aero garden I gave my dad for Xmas. He had it in his shed, I guess he didn't want to figure out how to use it. Hopefully the tomato seeds are still good.

This year I'm just giving him a gift certificate. He never likes what I get him. Pffft

Sorry i havent posted sooner.  I stayed up till almost 3am to give them all vetrx, gatorade, mashed hard boiled eggs with sprinkled powdered milk on top and some Poultry Conditioner feed. We put the birds inside our house in a quiet room with a heat lamp in one corner of their "pen".

Got up late this morning and went straight to Tractor Supply to buy probiotics. After nursing the birds, i conked out for a long nap. This has been really stressful.

Last night, those poor birds looked like they had been through a war. One had passed on and one little boy was/is not doing well. He was toppling over and passing blood.

The little boy survived the night and it's really a miracle he has made it this far. He is just skin and bones, and cant stand up or walk  properly. He sits back on his hocks and lifts up his right foot in a  "pawing motions", like a dog would do.  I gave him oatmeal w/probiotics a short while ago and he is still alive. It's amazing, he must be one tough little boy.

Thank you all for your good wishes, I'll keep you posted.

Best wishes,
Tina

Oh no. :(. Glad you have them on hand now though. Go look at the thread on caring for cross beaks, the moderator did a wonderful essay on tube feeding ( not necessary for you) but also a good hi cal goop. I've been giving my hens my own version while they are moulting and they all love it, not just the cross beak.
Good luck, my hopes are with you!

Thanks for suggesting the crossbeak thread. I do need to get calories into these birds. They are so pathetic looking and skinny.

I always write letters like that. And I write letters to praise employees who do a good job. If I were a business owner, I'd want to know either way...

FYI, I got 12 half-pint ball jars at Walmart for $7.48, and 12 pint jars for $10. I hate Walmart, but I thought it was a pretty good price.

Yeah I am a letter writer, good or bad I tell people. My husband and I believe in telling people they have done a great job, and actually will pay more for better service if we have a choice. So this is going to sound crazy to some but I bought the chicks some toys. I had to stop in pets art to pick up a toy for a friend visiting with her dog, and I walked by the birds and it just struck me as I could by the chicks toys rather than giving them a treat. Soooooo they have been happily playing the past day with a shiny bell, a mirror, some balls with bells in them, and these rings....at first there was only one brave chick...now they won't stop jingling things and goofing off. It's so funny to hear them...I've come to notice such different chirps....
Come check this out...
Hey where did everyone go....I'm scared and alone
Content all is well...
Food!...
Hey stupid that hurt! ...

How long were they in transit for? Six months?! This seems unusual... they aren't chicks are they? I dunno, I'm concerned that a breeder would ship anything that was already doing poorly. Hmph.
