Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

My doctor said my heart rate is 60 bpm, which is normal for me (even a little on the high side).  Heart rhythm is good and strong.  So now I'm waiting for the results of the blood work I had.

I do feel better today.  I'm thinking a lot of this is stress-related.

Glad your feeling better, hope the test results come back quickly and all is well.

I want this week to be over already. It's just been the worst and its only Tuesday. My little BR chick made me smile today though through everything....she just came right over and climbed into my hand....she thought I had a treat for her lol but it was my mothers ring ....she then rubbed her head against my fingers until I started rubbing her little neck like I do when I pick her up. It's really funny how something so simple made my day just so much brighter.

Good morning all,
Suzanne glad you got the appointment, and you are feeling a little better.
I put a call into my nurse friend at South Side but she was working so didn't get back to me about a cardiologist. like Roberta said maybe for next time. I have several nurse friends and I think they give a more honest recommendation then doctors. With doctors it's either whom they play golf or in their group .
Went outside yesterday and the biggest hawk I've ever seen was in the top of my pine tree. I couldn't get him to leave for the life of me.I'm going to get a Super Soaker maybe that will scare him enough. I know he'll be back.some of those super soakers shot like 40 feet.
Toxic, Are you going to "knit doctor " today at Rumpielstilskins? Let me know if you ever go on a Wed. and I'll meet you for coffee. It's loads of fun.

They seem to be the only thing legal, and they do pack quite a punch.

My favorite color is orange so if you see flying over head you know where they've been.
Suzanne, the cardiologist is McCormick, she has a practice in West Islip.

I am not going to knit dr today cause I have class
tomorrow anyway. I'll let you know when I do.

I want to shoot hawks with paintballs but I have
not yet seen one near my yard. I guess they stay in
the nature preserve.

I ordered mareks vaccine for the chicks when they
hatch.

I'm making French onion soup today. My eyes are
burning. Ouch.

Not to be a tree hugging, granola crunchy, PETA person, cause I am not... and you all might be aware of this already, but here goes, before we have calico hawks flying around, don't scare or otherwise harass it if it is on the endangered migratory bird list... huge fines if you get caught.

Here is a link to thread for permits for permanent removal of migratory birds including raptors, in case they become a real issue for you.
http://www.fws.gov/migratorybirds/mbpermits.html

"Legal Status

All hawks and owls are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (16 USC, 703-711). These laws strictly prohibit the capture, killing, or possession of hawks or owls without special permit. No permits are required to scare depredating migratory birds except for endangered or threatened species (see Table 1), including bald and golden eagles.

In addition, most states have regulations regarding hawks and owls. Some species may be common in one state but may be on a state endangered species list in another. Consult your local USDA-APHIS-Wildlife Services, US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and/or state wildlife department representatives for permit requirements and information."

I tried to find information specific to NY, but was unsuccessful. I have 3 or 4 a day around here and I have trained my dog to go berserk when he hears them, but that doesn't stop them from buzzing our yard at a couple hundred miles per hour. It is only a matter of time before one makes off with a bird or two. We have the Harrier and broad winged version lately. I think they could make off with a small kid they are so huge...
