Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Talmadge does not carry Layena, the only Purina products they carry are horse.
Neptune isn't that far.... I can get it if it's a problem.

I have gotten feed from The Hayloft in central Islip ,969-4429 if anyone is scrambling(gotta love it)for feed.... They're on Connetquot Ave.

I was in Brians in Rocky Point about a week ago. He started carrying Purina, had some Layena, at $20.
Smae price , closer.

Well if it turns into a disaster, I have around 500 lbs in my house right now.
Anyone is welcome if need be.

Looks like 2 CL girls is all I'm gonna get. Really wish one
had been a boy. My broody is raising both of them. I cleaned out
her funky nest. Gave her back her three eggs that didn't hatch
just in case. Picked up an extra bag of feed and my prescriptions.
Now I am all ready for Sandy. Gonna bring broody and chicks inside
For the storm. My dad wants me to bring all the chickens inside. UGH.
They have a solid wood coop that is elevated. I told him they will be
fine but he is a worry wort. I'm not looking forward to cleaning the mess
the big girls will make in the house.

Seems dumb to use the 1000 dose vaccine for just
2 chicks. Ah well. The money I spent on these eggs
plus the money I spent on eggs last sping that didn't hatch
I could have just bought chicks from Greenfire. which
I still might end up doing when I move cause I have no Roo.
I'm bummed cause I really wanted to breed them and hatch
out a bunch of chicks in the spring for everyone. Sucks. :(

I went to Riverhead to Talmage and got feed, scratch, shavings and hay. Plus a bag of feed for Donna and one for my friend Vito. We're good to go!

I don't like Layena as much as I like the Agway stuff. It doesn't smell as yeasty as Layena. And it's never gone bad on me. This time around I bought 50 lb. of Hearty Hen feed ($17) as well as my usual 75/20 corn/oat scratch. The Hearty Hen feed has added Omega 3.

Rhonda and Aretha are having a really tough molt. They look like they've been plucked. I've added a lot more meat scraps to the treats to give them some more protein. I'm currently getting 2-3 eggs a day from 6 hens. Rhonda hasn't laid an egg in about 4 days. Poor things.

I looked long and hard at the chicks at Talmage. But since they have a 6 chick minimum, I walked away. If they had let me take 2 I would have picked up a couple of EEs or a EE/BO pair.

Mom just left. I signed papers for her HELOC. But since it was only a signature page, I put in an angry call to the banker demanding a copy of the whole agreement. How sad is it that I can't even trust my own mother???
