Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

My friends,  family  "estate" is on the Escer?? (spelliong) out on Rainbow Lake. I've been goiong there sionce aboiut 1978 or so.
I think there are only 1 or 2 on the east coast .
It has 2 guest houses we could all live in. One for the  boys and one for the girls as well as a 10  bathroom great camp. All bedrooms have their own bathroom.
My dh does the plumbing for them when we go if there is one.LOL

A Victorian style lake house. I have no words but to say I want to live and be burried  there. Not gonna happen.

Accessible by only snow shoes in the winter.

We used to do New Years Eve. fireworks out over the lake. Every guest/family had their own bedroom to sleep over with private bath if they didn't
want to treck out late at night. No heat but for fireplaces and wood stoves. LOL No-one cared by midnight!:lau

1 nasty ppock/dirt road in and out from the paved road. Really long too and i've been stuck more then once and had to be winched out.
10 bathrooms all in a different colors. Can you even  stand it?  The seafoam green was always my favorite.

I am really home sick now.........

You are killing me! My parents had a lake house in Hamilton county for about 15yrs on Adirondack lake, about 35mins NW of Warrensburg. I loved it up there. I have been to the blue mountain museum so many times I have it memorized. I was so sad when they sold it but it made sense at the time. I took my little family to the sagamore for Columbus day weekend but it's not the same. DH doesn't do roughing it though, lol. Also just finished reviewing my writing techer's paper about her summers on blue mountain. I think there is something about the Adirondacks that appeals to animal lovers period.

OMG! That sounds incredible Maggie. Now I'm really jealous, it must be spectacular! Do you have pics? my email address is [email protected] or maybe we can Facebook them. It must have been even nicer in the 70's. I want to see that place!!!!!! So cool.
Good grief I am sorry for not answering till now. the day we were speaking my mil was rushed to er for chest pains. Today a prodedure to see oof her stints are working properly or need to be replaced. Needless to say now i am busy. sigh.......

Hi Heather, it's a great place for sure! And you really don't have to rough it too much up there. We've done a bit of both up there. I personally prefer roughing it a little.

Uuuugh. Hawk migration. When is it over? 4 chicks in 2 weeks. I guess I need to net my run and keep them in for the winter. I was trying to range them until snow, but at this rate it will try to go for the smaller hens soon. I know my neigbors up this way are having trouble as well.

Tina I am so sorry! You seem to be having a run of bad luck. Maybe just wait til spring when everything is warm, I bet silkies are not as adept at handling the cold. Thoughts are with you....

Thank you! I just got home about an hour ago, and the silkie looks a bit better. His eye appears to be improving. No more started birds coming into our flock for awhile...maybe we will try our hand at hatching instead.

Well, Ben was successfully rehomed today. I miss the big, loud guy, but I'm relieved not to be stressing about the neighbors.

Operation Santa is underway in my neighborhood. It's a tough night to be hearing sirens. Such a sad day...

Morning All,
A very sad day indeed.
Maggs hope your MIL is OK
I so miss upstate. My next home will be a tiny airstream trailer set on a slab in the mountains of Virginia. Mcdreamy in Greys Anatomy stole my idea although I would share it with him.
Tina my offer still stands about the incubator I just have to get it to you.dont want to mail it cause it would break for sure. I never keep the original boxes things come in.
Went to a new doc yesterday cause of the run around I was getting from Hospital for Special Surgery. Got a cortisone injection in the shoulderand am going for physical therapy. He said its an unusual tear. He only sees it on professional athletes. I told him that it was an intense game of kickball. Got a laugh out of him. He said that he wants chickens but his wife won't let him.
Be safe .
