Heather, I am with Roberta on this one. I don't think they usually shed lining that frequently. I have a bag of corid as well, if you need it. I can almost always get that at TSC up here if anyone ever needs it stat. Karen and Carol, and anyone else who is interested... I am going to put in a pretty big chick order this year, probaby from ideal (
www.ideal-poultry.com), Meyers (
www.meyerhatchery.com) or from myer (in PA
www.myerspoultry.com ). Not sure which yet, ideal has the selection I want and but doesn't sex their polish and is far away, meyers has most of what I want (no NN or brabanters),but sexes their polish, myer in pa has everthing I want except the brabanters, sexes their polish, and is very close (so I am leaning toward them). I am not sure if I have ever heard of anyone ordering from them though. Anyway, if anyone wants something and doesn't want a minimum to deal with, I am happy to carry the order. Today I made a dust bath out of a shallow, but wide, storage container, all natural play sand, and DE. The girls just gave me this look like I am out of my mind, but I bet they are all in it by tomorrow morning. And I built some storage shelves for my DD bedroom (really, I just cut some 1 x 8 pine into lengths, sanded it, and put it up on brackets, but it looks pretty good with the storage bin system that I made out of pine this summer for her toys). DH just revealed that he has no interest in the gamebirds, but he has always dreamed about building a larger than life aviary. So I told him to go for it and I would take care of the bird part. And so begins the winter planning for the most insane gamebird enclosure ever! He wants to rig the netting to a tree so it is really high for them and to use electrical wire around the 8 foot garden fencing walls to keep the predators from climbing up to the netting and cutting in. He is so funny. He will be the one out there with a cup of coffee and the paper feeding the partridge... I am sooo excited. So, if anyone wants some pheasants or quail or partridge, I will be ordering them at some point as well. Ok, I am going to get into soooo much trouble this winter between birds, incubators, and seed catalogs. Someone stop me.
