Although I do love NY I am getting jealous about all this gardening I am missing out on in warmer zones.
Heather get a guest house so we can come and visit.
Like a B&B.
Honestly one of the houses John & I liked best online has a 2BD guest house right next to the pool! So yeah, come on down!!! Just be aware that you will have to bring an entire suitcase full of salami, proscutti, cappicola, bagels, um, pizza?, Linden's Butter Crunch cookies, and a whole host of other goodies I'm convinced I will never find anywhere else.
He is down there now looking at stuff and so far we have encountered lots of gas wells (Fracking!), a gun range, and a bunch of HOA's, one of which allows cattle and horses, but not chickens? Eh, I'm not convinced I can't get away with anything I want to as long as it's in the backyard.
Christine I got an email today from Timber Press about picking the right plants for the right climates:

I think I might just order it and see if it doesn't soothe me a bit. It's more that I'm bummed that I keep planting apple trees and peonies all of which take years to come to fruit and I'm gone when they really take off. Just like parenting I guess.
I am in the process of telling people and institutions what is afoot and the lady at the bank got teary actually. Which is nice to know that people like me? but I feel bad now. But everyone, like, everyone! is asking if they can come stay with us in the winter so I am just going to go ahead and assume we need a guest house, lol!
OH and for sure I am going to be at the Sussex fair in May. If I haven't squared away a good home for all of my hens to go to by then, if they're not coming with me, I may have to ask all of you to pick one and take her. I will divide up the food & supplies I have too. Ah, I can't think about that though. It's not until spring.
