Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Well we are busy enjoying this snowy, snowy day. I am baking bread, thawing a roaster chicken, making pasta, maybe some cookies... can we say eff-you Weight Watchers? My nanny brought her nephews over to play since the day care was closed (she has custody of them) and they are all running around inside outside inside outside pants off pants on... it's a little chaotic but love it. Rei the oldest (3yr) wanted to see the chickens first thing, really before anything else, so we went outside and fed them some sunflower seeds. Yum yum. That's him in the navy hood. Anyone losing power is encouraged to come by. Carolyn if your daughter's power goes out again please tell her to come here.

Fingers crossed the cable stays on....

Sorry to hear about the chicks again Carol. I think maybe wait a bit before sending the shipment again, it's just impossible for them to understand what it's like here. I'm talking to someone in Dallas and it's 75o F there now. Whole different world.

Congrats on all the new grand babies! How exciting!! You need to start thinking of cute ways to pose them as chicks, with chickens, in an egg cup, as a farmer, etc etc.. :)

Whoops just say the frigging red tail hawk go past our yard. Hope he didn't get a song bird. Dammnit.

So kind of you Heather! Thanks for remembering about my Daughter in Westchester. She's fighting the good fight just now with expedia.com. She was supposed to leave on a flight today to New Orleans with her wife and the 4year old, but yesterday all flights were cancelled for today. The first class flight and the hotel were a non refundable package from expedia. So much money!! Gone. I think they offered them an alternative flight in economy class, leaving NY early in the morning on Sunday, with three separate stops and layovers, making it a NINE hour trip (with a 4 year old !!) and they wouldn't arrive until Sunday night. Their ticket home is for Tuesday, so they'd really only have one day (Monday) in New Orleans. Their son is a college student at Tulane and they were going to visit him and see the sights of N.O. It was going to be a four day trip, going Friday (today) and returning on Tuesday. Now it's just a huge disappointment. Not going at all. She's making lots of phone calls to expedia and the hotel and the airline this afternoon, trying to get all or at least some, of her money back. We shall see...

We sprinkled a little swiss cheese in it and on top too. Super yummy. I doubt there will be any by tomorrow morning.

Happy Birthday, Suzanne!!!

Congratulations, ChickenAl!!! Another boy... yippee!!!!!!

So sad about those poor chicks not making it. Think it's just too darned cold and the fact that the postal workers don't seem to treat those boxes any different than the others.

WooooooHooooooooo!! Expedia returned all the money. Whew!! Took four hours of talking on the phone to all the powers that be, but SUCCESS. In writing, too.
Very Lucky. There's is no denying the weather circumstances. Great Job!!!!! The four hours was the key, no one has the stamina and where with all to endure that!

Also, Congrats to Chicken Al....Looking corward to welcoming you into the Grandparents Club!

At least a foot of snow here already. Looks like we'll be up all night shaking snow off of the pen netting every hour or so to avoid a collapse.. I hope everyone makes it through this storm in good shape.
