Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Was looking at a very old survey map of my property and lo and behold, there's a structure labeled HEN HOUSE way in the back of the yard. True, the property was split and half sold off decades and decades ago, and that Hen House was on the portion that is not mine, but still... Maybe I can figure out the size of the hen house from the scale of the survey map and extrapolate the likely number of chickens that it could hold. I'm sure that it's more than the TWO that current municipal code allows me. Maybe I can plead that I'm grandfathered in for having more than two hens. I've got four now, and I'm getting two more from Roberta mid-March. The current Freeport Mayor Hardwick has told me that he doesn't care how many I have, but Mayoral elections are set for March 19th and I'm so hoping that he's re-elected. Even went to his opening campaign meeting a few days ago and got a lawn sign from them and stuck it outside in front of my house. It urges my fellow Freeporters to VOTE FOR MAYOR HARDWICK !
Here's hoping...

Welcome to Long Island!!! Although I live in Nassau County, it is always nice to have another chicken gal down here. I began with Chickens in November so we are both newbies. My 5 girls are about 20 weeks old. I've been in Florida nursing my mom but am returning home on Wednesday. My priorities are, Hug and Kiss DH at airport, pick up and hug my 3 chihuahuas (They take multiple turns),hug my boxer then head out to the coop to see how much bigger my girls have gotten.

Hope you enjoy Long Island life and the wonderful people on here!

I'm actually next door on a daily basis, and they're easy to hear when I'm in the yard. Across the street at my house I can only hear your boy every now and then. When my family came to visit, however, they picked up on it right away

Question for you guys: should I concentrate on buying locally or are the mail-order companies fairly reliable?
Welcome! You cetainly did find the right place, so many friendly folks here. I am moving to Dallas at the end of June and am in need of someone loving and reliable to give my hens to. I have had a few leads here and there but I'm still searching. If you're interested in the coop that would be even better. Please PM me and I'm happy to fill you in on the details. I have 4 full-size and 2 bantams but I am splitting them apart, the bantams get picked on too much. They are all laying but not all at the moment if that makes sense.

Well it couldn't get any worse. Someone has stolen my identity..Who would want to be me.
Of course my husband is blaming me for it. Why I haven't a clue. I feel pretty helpless at this point.
You try to be a good person and this is the SHIrT that happens. I can't even get my credit report from one of the agencies because I answered the security questions wrong. At least for the new way "Carol" has them answered.
