Think I'll babble, too: Arriving today or tomorrow will hopefully be a Priority Mail box in the post containing 6 teeny Barbu D'anvers

hatching eggs! A local elementary school hatch project will hatch them, but I'll be welcoming the day-old chicks. I've never raised chicks before. My fiance has successfully raised many chicks and been a breeder of several breeds, but I'm going to be the one home by myself with the tiny darlings. (Trying not to read too many health-horror stories in the raising chicks section

) Anyway, I'm hoping to keep a friendly pullet from the hatch for myself, and to carefully place the others into loving, responsible homes as pre-spoiled, hand-tamed, friendly darlings. I'm really excited, I keep peeking outside for that white Priority box.

Their color pattern will be mille fleur.

Hi everyone!:frow

Suzanne, congrats again on getting married!!!!!!!!!!!

Heather, I'm no expert in social media so really don't have too much to offer in terms of advice. I just keep trying in the hopes that something will work out.

Speaking of bad luck (but could have been much worse) 2 HUGE pit bulls or maybe even cane corsos were about to stroll down my driveway this morning. I FREAKED out and yelled at the woman to come get her friggen pit bulls off my and my neighbors property. This is the second time in a few days these dogs have gotten out. Something serious could happen here if they don't get better control of their dogs. I called animal control and they said they'd give a warning and now my neighbor probably hates me but tough. Don't get those large, sometimes aggressive dog breeds and let them stray anywhere off your property.

ACK!!!!!!!! My hens could have been goners.

Congrats Suzanne! Can't believe it is Wedding Time already! Wishing you much happiness! :)

Had all my family over this weekend, my son and his family was in from California. I have 5 sons and 3 Re married with children. Had 25 for dinner on Sunday, 7 of the 11 kids running around we're my grandkids! Such a wonderful and happy sound!

I would have reported those dogs too. They are way too big and dangerous to be running loose!

Also Me 4 or whatever the number is up to. LOL

Hee hee heee!! You are going to want to keep more than one, trust us! Also, they are just plain happier with a buddy or two, so it would be downright cruel to not keep three... or four... or six...

Seriously though, they are happier as part of a flock so plan on at least two but three is ideal.

Because -- and I say this as someone that loves, nay is obsessed with, chickens - they are fragile little creatures at times and sometimes we just lose one through no fault of our own. Someone on IG that I follow posted a quote from her Nanna: "Chickens are always lookin' for ways to die, sweetheart." I offer this to you before you hatch the chicks especially; please do not panic if one of them fails to thrive. It was nothing you did, they just don't all make it, especially as babies. Which doesn't mean we don't give them our hearts entirely too often and too easily anyway!

MilleFleur is such a pretty feather color, I just adore it.

Now please excuse me, I have to plan a quail pen for my new backyard in Texas... yep, we are now Texas homeowners y'all! If I am typing with a Southern Accent now that's why.
