I hate broody's. !!!!!
They make me do crazy things like bid on eBay eggs.
My family is gonna kill me.

Do whats good for your hens...........not for you.

poor roos........

I could never really do that. I couldn't kill the cute little guys. unfortunately lots of people have no choice. I love Roos wish I could keep one without the neighbors getting mad. I still visit one of my Roos I gave away, Mr Speckles.
I was just wondering if the mothers protect the babies from the flock or not? Im still kind of new to the broody thing. Last time my silkie hatched a chick I ended up with her and the baby in the house in a brooder all winter.

I;ve had 4 broody gals spitting at each other. you might not want to admit to sacrifice your roos so easily..... you sound so ah///////whatever.

I have never killed a Roo and I don't think my hens would kill them either. I have always placed the Roos I hatched to people who keep them as pets and won't eat them. I don't have a problem with meat pens / culling, it's a stinky part of life but those who eat meat can't complain. I just like to know my boys are pets not dinner. I have 2 broody's now so im not getting too many eggs for one girl to hatch. The broody's are in the same box by choice, I have 3 boxes. They aren't fighting each other.
