There are several posts on BYC describing the use of Oxine in humidifiers. Different techniques used but all seemed to be an almost miraculous cure for upper respiratory infections. I haven't read those posts for quite a while (couple of years) but I remember some folks put the sick chicken in a pet carrier and then partially covered it and then kept the humidifier pointed toward it for three hours at a time, several times a day. Some did it all night long; some alternated an hour at a time all day, etc. Most of the posts gave dosage proportions of how much Oxine to put in the water. Most used the technique for at least 3 or 4 days. Just be sure to use the Oxine without adding any sort of acid or vinegar into the Oxine/water solution.Thank you, that helps. I wish I could stop the sneezing. I'm reluctant to start the antibiotic I got yesterday at Agway. I did use the vetrx, but not yet today. The other stuff seems disease specific from what I was reading
There is a fair (read chickens!) there next month, a must go to!Went to Queens County Farm Museum tonight for a wedding...it was such a cool place. I had never even heard of it. Beautiful wedding.
Thank you all!! Very, very helpful and much appreciated. I have thought of returning her and wondered how they wouldn't have checked for issues before selling her to me. What's worse is they said to only keep quarantined for just a day or two...I am so happy I listened to you all. I do not go to my existing girls after handling the sick one. I change my clothes and shoes and wash my hands and arms. I so badly want to get this girl better because now it's a challenge...must be the athlete in me...lol.
Thanks again and if any other advise, please keep it coming. Have a great day all...gotta get ready for work, the people of Long Island need to buy tile...lol
