No, still at work, don't get out until 5. I would rather dump stale gas in the spring, than run out in a storm...
DH ran out before Irene and filled everything that held gas. He was surprised when the pump shut off at $100. and had to restart it and swipe the credit card again.... that's how much gas we're storing.
But I do remember Gloria, even if you could run out to the gas station, sometimes they don't have power.
Luckily, there is one right at the corner of my street, IF they are open.
People have become too complacent about "getting stuff"
The kids I work with constantly use debit cards, but if there's no power, you don't get anything!
Is it safe enough to try and cut that branch, or a piece of it down? Maybe just a piece will lighten it up enough to where it won't snap.
Hopefully this weather will slow down the candy I have bought for Monday, maybe I can return some of the $30 something dollars ACK!

Al, don't be too happy about the rain here. I just found out that a heavy downpour will flood part of the run. The big girls are up for the night, but so far the babies haven't followed them up to the coop. If they don't go up soon, I'm going to have to go out there and try to round them up, which ain't easy because the access door is in the flooded part of the run. I put the light on, so I'm hoping they head up there soon. Gonna give the little birdbrains a few more minutes.

Drove almost 2 hours round trip to my friend's house to get her Will signed up, and when I got there her granddaughter was there and she didn't want her to know. So I dropped off the file and we got back in the car. Boy, was I ticked. 2 hours driving in this weather for NOTHING!!!

yeah. I figure it will give DP something to do - one chicken project after another. I'm also thinking I have to change the gangplank up to the coop. The babies won't use it and I have to chase them down and put them up in the coop by hand. Not so bad on a warm sunny day, but I had to kneel in an ice cold puddle tonight. That's not working for me!

I forgot how bad the rain can be with flooding.

One tree fell and hit the house. Cracked the final siding and ripped a window scree but did not break the glass. Minor damage in comparison to what it could have done had it been five feet closer to the house. The tree over the coop is holding up, for now. The one next to the coop and over the pool was in trouble and our son went out with a pole and knocked off some of the snow and it came up a bit.

We have about ten inches of snow so far.

Don't remember if I posted that I had to take jack back to the vet. His bloodwork showed kidney failure. We got him there before the snow started to fall. They will try flushing his kidneys with fluids and I assume give him stronger antibiotics for the infection.

This has been a stressful day, and it ain't over yet.

Oh good grief I am hating winter more and more by the minute. Got those 4 little 2 week olds hanging tough, no heat with mommy in a tight little 3 X 3 coop on lockdown.....and doing fine so far. But it is darned nasty out there!!!!! I am banging snow off arbivitore tree limbs hanging down to the ground....with a broom. LOLOL

We lost power for only ten minutes, fortunately. It is still snowing but the direction of the wind had changed 180 degrees suggesting this is the back end of the storm.

A foot of snow is down and it is heavy stuff.

Al....I am feeling your pain and really hope tomorrow is a sunny/better day especially for you all in the higher elevations.

Listening to the news it's only been 3 times since the 1860's since NYC has seen measurable snow in NYC. Yea....and my broody silky had to hatch those 4 peeps 2 weeks ago.
