Ok, so - I have a SERIOUSLY strong stomach... or so I thought. I forced myself to watch this video so that I am able to fully appreciate the gift I have in my backyard with my girls. It was horrific and horrifying and has awoken that very same rage in me when I work with my cat and dog rescue groups. What I don't understand, is after seeing this video, how is the world these places can even still be in business.

I am going outside right now to hug my girls and kiss all of their perfect little beaks and thank god that I am able to feed my family fresh, happy, healthy eggs. I will never again feed my family anything but.

My heart is broken.

Curiosity got the best of me and I just had to watch the video. It was not a pleasant experience. Downright horrible.

If you read the text under the video you will see there are no federal laws preventing this. Some states have outlawed it but I can't believe the gov't does not have the USDA inspectors all over these places. There is never a reason to do this to any creature.

Perhaps we should go there and toss those 'workers' around a bit while we burn them with lets says... cigarette butts.

I have to say, even a few years ago - I never would have thought I would be saying how much I truly love chickens... but even that is unacceptable. All of Gods creatures deserve kindness and love... except my husband right now. :)

In a way, I'm sorry I posted the video in the first place. I didn't mean to upset you all. But I agree with all the comments (except maybe the one about your husband, Cat).

Once again, corporate greed has replaced basic humanity. Yikes.

On an up note, it's a nice warm day down here on Long Island. I just got home from work and my girls are all enjoying a little siesta in the backyard. The Rooster is out for the day. I think they miss him!

I have to laugh at myself. Every time I come and go, I leave by the back door so I can visit with the girls. At night, I check the coop on my way out and on my way back in. I love peeking in on them when they're roosting. They let me pet them, but still look ticked off when I open the coop door!
