Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Well, Ms. "under the limit"... I did happen to pick up some light Sussex, and coronation Sussex, and a few lavender Orpingtons this weekend.
Peep, peep

oh, yeah, and a few more Marans, and....
Welcome aboard, Imprfctme! Chickendude is up by you, he wants a few....

Haven't taken any pics yet, they are just little grey fluffballs, only about a week old.
Only have 4, so I'm not sure how many will be boys, and how many I'll keep.
But they are cuties! But aren't they all at that age?
yes, Roberta

Whoops! Just spotted a Turkey Vulture overhead. The hens are in the coop and P.O.'s about it but I'm glad they're there. Heard a Great Horned Owl for about an hour at midnight last night, but have yet to actually lay eyes on it. Unlike the Red Tail that likes to hang out in our Oak tree giving me the stink eye when I yell at him like a crazy lady. I need to make a bigger covered run for my birds, don't I?

Do Turkey Vulture's take live birds or just dead ones?

Also, what is this "limit" I hear of? Are you actually limited in your areas? I'm not sure that there is a bird per acre formula down here but I'm guessing more than 6 and I'd start to get in trouble with the neighbors and the poo.

Turkey vultures will only eat carrion, so the live chickens are safe. Be careful of that red tail hawk, though. It's definitely sizing up the lunch buffet.

The limit would be either by county or town ordinance. You should be able to checks on the Internet.
