Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I have oxine, I used it to clean the coop before I got my chicks. I just added the correct dose of electrolytes to both their waterers and they appear to be drinking some which is a good thing.

I'm afraid now of the panacur and will not use it again. I only used it as I visually saw worms in their poop and because one of my hens was sick already, thought it may because of worms but as it turns out, it wasn't.

I'm sorry to hear about your flock.

I really need to do a thorough cleaning of the coop. Maybe this weekend, I will do that and use the oxine like you said.

Always something.

Sometimes the dead worms clog them up depending on how many were there...
Are they pooping? Do you see anything in the poop like dead worms?

umm, it's funny you say that Roberta, a few of them that were sick weren't really pooping much. I didn't see any dead worms though.

I'm happy to report that they appear much better this afternoon! Whew, what a relief. So scary to see your hens looking so awful, especially not even opening their eyes.

So glad to hear they are better. I think I'd completely freak if mine all got sick!

Happy to report that Maestro is looking a lot better. The swelling in his face has gone down some, and he's been acting very sweet.

Okay, I confess. I've been checking the nest boxes a couple of times a day to see if Wanda has started laying yet...

yay for maestro! happy to hear some good news!

That pic of ethel is just too much, how in the world did you manage that? I feel like that would be a major disaster with dirty water everywhere were I to try that with one of my hens. Any reason you bathed her? So funny!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did weigh Large Marge in an antique meat scale once. That was a funny sight. She weighed 7.5 lbs last I checked.

Hope the girls are okay today. I came home for lunch and noticed some light colored loose poop from one of mine. It seems to be Wanda, who is clearly ready to start laying. Hormonal? No worms that I can see. Here's how much she's developed compared to her "sisters" who hatched the same day, This is Wanda:

This is Shirley:

And this is Aretha:

Oh yeah, Wanda is next for sure!
Ethel is 9.9 lbs, she is a rescue. She was bought to be eaten, and they fell in love with her, and decided to keep her.
The problem is, she just keeps getting bigger and BIGGER. She can hardly walk, she is so fat.
All full of poop, and just a mess. So she got the spa treatment yesterday.
Her owner still hasn't called to tell me the coop is ready after 6 months. I feel so bad for her, she just lays down, and the boys just go at it all over her.
She really needs to be eaten, she is one FAT sticky mess.
UGH.

Oh yeah. Sounds very appetizing! 9.9 lbs, huh? A possible record for this thread?

It's official. Surgery on the 16th. Then a spot on the 21-day disabled list.

Surgery for who? The kitty? I'm confused, didn't you say he has a heart murmur?
oh poor Ethel, she can't help it, she's big boned, lol! Can you put her on a diet or does it not work that way.
