I like the chickensforbackyards.com site. They have a chart that's easy to read. I printed out pictures of all the breeds so I can tell them apart.
Got my hovabator all plugged in. The temperature has been a constant 100 degrees. I finally decided to order the lav orp eggs. They're on their way. Since I've had experience with hatching ducks, I figured I'd be good to go with the chickens. So excited.
BABY CHICKS!! YAY!!!![]()
Nice! I'm sure they'll be beautiful. I wish I could hatch some, I know the girls would be excited but I guess a new puppy is excitement enough, lol. So far we have named the puppy - "Dutch" - it's a girl but that was my g-grandmother's nickname as a child and they were born on the same day. Turns out that was the breeder's mother's nickname too, which is why they named the kennels Dutch Bouviers. Now for the chicks, I was hoping to get some great female heroines like Amelie Earheart or Susan B. Anthony for the Welsumer and Marie Curie or Emilie du Chatelet for the Faverolle since they are both French. The girls want Princess Tiana and Princess Ariel naturally. Ah, the perils of parenting. We already have one hen named J. Lo (Perry Katy died, and yes, I know it's Katy Perry but the baby insists that her name is really Perry Katy) so I am hoping to win at least one of these names. I'm thinking names in a hat or something.
How many different breeds did you/we end up ordering?
