Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Tossed 12 eggs tonight from my incubator temp spike.
Still have 3CL, 2AS, and 2MJ. 1 AS and 1 MJ are questionable
at this point (day 7) only 4 had ring of death though. All the others
never started. Might of been fertile or not didn't feel like opening them.
Kinda bummed cause those are the ones I spent the most money on.
Ah well at least some may be ok.

I can't sleep. Worried about my eggs that are in lock down.
I keep checking temp & humidity.
Guess I'll get sleep on Monday. :/

Ok, Bonnie is in the bathtub, she ate and drank a little and finally POOPED!
I don't know why that made me happy, but it shows she isn't going to drop dead on me yet.
And she is standing up and is more alert.
Everyone else looks ok, so I hope it's an isolated problem.
:fl  Thanks for the well wishes, everyone.

Roberta, sorry to hear you have a sick chick on your hands. Hoping she continues to improve today and can rejoin the flock soon.

Our coop reminds me of Frank Sinatra's retirement. Or Columbo. Just one more thing...

We're finishing the run expansion today. Then I'm going to stop free-ranging the girls all day. They can have a few hours in the late afternoon, and that's it. I need my yard back!

We added about 80sq feet by going around the corner where the coop stands. Makes it a big structure, but it looks good and it will keep the girls from destroying the backyard. We're keeping the bird bath in the run, and I'm going to put in some cds and branches and such to keep the flock happy. Bobby also wants to add a gate so we can close off the two parts of the run so we can introduce new birds more easily.

You remember Bobby, formerly known as "Mr. You're on Your Own"...

That sounds wonderful! We too are working on the coop and run today and tomorrow! I'm excited. I love your gate idea, it sounds like a much easier way to introduce the new members.
I'd love pictures!!!

Bobby bought this gate kit from Home Depot. He used it to make the human door on the original run. You can customize it to any height - includes hardware, brackets, etc. I think he wanted to do another gate coz it was fun to work with!

It's such a gorgeous day - looking forward to being outside. Last night I sat for awhile in yard with the big girls. I find their chatter surprisingly peaceful.

Eggs on eBay. No I'm not getting them
I'm done. But if I could have ducks ....

I'm almost finished with my coop and have no chickens so I'm in the opposite situation.

Reading all about chicken care from library books and getting ready.

Best of luck with the hatching, enjoy the lil peeps when they pop out!
