I did some research and made chick shoes. She was standing! And walked a little. I'll take her out a few times a day for physical therapy.

I'm nuts everyone else is sleeping and I'm up making chick orthopedic shoes.

I hatched a duck in my class once who had deformed feet. I gave it physical therapy a couple of times a day and he/she was fine. I think it's awesome that you were up make chick shoes!

I have to admit I'm no more bonded to the chicks I hatched than the ones I bought. I think it's partly because I don't know what sex they are and don't want to get attached. So let me revise my earlier post: If anyone wants to order chicks from MPC, let me know because I want an Exchequer Leghorn. Can't find a Coronation Sussex from a commercial hatchery.

My backyard neighbors have all their windows closed. I want to believe it's because they have central air conditioning, and not because my chickens are making such a racket this morning...

It's supposed to rain. Maybe they're just making sure their house doesn't flood? How loud could your chickens be?

It is a/c weather suzanne, that is probably it!

Mine have been making a racket too. Lately, I feel a certain attitude coming from one of my neighbors that is next door to the hen's yard. I wonder if she is annoyed by the hens but is too timid to say. One time, when I casually mentioned that her dog likes to bark, her eyebrows went up and she said my dog never barks. Really? Are you kidding me? People are funny sometimes! They believe what they want to believe.

They also use my property which is on another street to park their commercial exterminating truck and put their yard waste on my property for pickup. How about putting your garbage on your property? I would never assume to do that to people.

Her husband was a super nice guy but died last year of a massive heart attack. I really liked him and it was very sad. He used to stick his head over the fence (like in that show home improvement) and we would always talk. Since he died, she doesn't ever want to talk or say hi.
