Yes, it would be nice to get together to replace peeps.
As soon as I can guarantee I am disease free, I'm in!
Yes, me too! I want to be sure of disease free status also. I would never want to risk another's flock!!

I'm in awe of all of the efforts made to help those with storm damage. So many people have volunteered and gotten so much accomplished. I'd just like to do what I can to help, even if it's just some donated chicks!

OH MY GOD YOU GUYS! I just had a Cooper's Hawk PICK UP Nutmeg, my Sebright Bantam, and try to fly off with her! I was washing dishes so luckily I saw it through the kitchen window. All the hens started in with skwaking and alarm calls and I looked up and thought just, "HAWK!" I ran out, left the kettle on and the water running and yelled to the puppy to come too, not that I had to call her, anytime someone runs she joins in. Ran out and there were feathers everywhere and I could see Nutmeg in her talons above the ground! Holy cheese balls. I guess the dog and I startled the hawk enough to make her drop Nutmeg though. When I finally got her inside to have a look, there wasn't but a tiny scratch on the top of her head, next to her comb. I washed it off and rubbed some Vaseline on her and popped her back in the coop where I found two full-size hens crammed next to each other in the nesting box. The dog and I rounded everyone else up and shut them back inside. Geez.... that was a little too close for comfort...

So glad she's okay!!!

Check her over good. I had a hawk attack a few weeks ago, and every hole I stitched up, I found another.
Those talons are like Edward Scissorhands.

I didn't see any other blood spots, and I lifted her wings and she seemed ok. Would there be another way she's injured that I couldn't see?
