I kind-of forgot about this post, but am glad to have it come around again. Guess I should have thought to post an update! Lucky is definitely a SHE! She is now almost 15 weeks old, and has the best personality. She would rather hang out with the people in her family than with her fellow chickens! She is the only one that gets frequent visits inside the house (mostly because I am still having some trouble with one of her toes...bumblefoot that keeps hanging on. Not really positive the best way to deal with it, but I keep trying!) She has also had a little trouble with her beak that I think is fire related. I think that the tip of her beak was damaged in the fire, but that it didn't show at first. I noticed a few weeks ago that the tip was peeling slightly. Last week, the very tip of her beak simply disappeared! I suspect that the tissue just took that long to show the effects of the fire. Fortunately she is still eating well and shows no additional difficulties with her beak. Check back tomorrow and I will post a current picture (both of Lucky and the resurrected bathroom!) We are having a storm right now, and I'm not that desperate for a pic! It will be interesting to see if you guys still think prod. red or RIR. Thanks for all of the interest!
