Please no offense but, many of the very hairy breeds are supposed to be like that.Folks buy them for that reason and then clip the coat down. A million years ago when I was showing and working for a dog handler -met "MAYA DANCER" can't recall kennel name, shown by Peggy Hoag. He was one of the top winning breeds, a tiny Maltese.

She said he got a bath every day and was line brushed while being dried. That's the same way Cockers were done. No damage to his coat or skin. Best enticement to buy the same brand shampoo that Fred Alderman was selling and used on his top winning Afghan Hound, Ch.Akaba's Unsinkable Molly Blue.

Sadly Fred passed young ,and couldn't find anyone selling the same product. To be honest my mom and I were using the dog shampoo and the conditioner. I'm sure we could have gone Best in Show in our own backyard.

I sure miss the dog show days, knowing breeders and fanciers from around the globe.
Pretty much ancient folks(like me) can ONLY remember the old, old days.

I remember you mentioning a LONG time a go in some thread, LOL that you worked with dogs. That must have been a very fun experience!

I never caged dried any dog. Always - out of the tub, they got laid down on a towel on the grooming table, And each hair was brushed as it dried. After a time or two dogs get so used to it, they fall a sleep on the table. I've had owners who just couldn't believe how well behaved their dogs were, they even took photos.

P.S. As soon as the dog was finished, I'd call the owner and say it was ready for pickup.
Of course THEN the owner would drop the ball, and barely pick it up before closing.

Now THIS is the kind of groomer I would like to take my dog to! :) It's ok though, I enjoy learning new things and grooming was something I had never done. And I know my boy likes to stay home with mommy instead of be handed over to a stranger. :p
