Ouch, Triplell. Sounds like our weather. Spirit and Ember didn't get to go outside today because we never made it to 25F. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow it will reach the 30s long enough to give them a short afternoon break outside.

Miss Lydia, you are lucky I think the world of you, because otherwise...

Brr, its like 10 degrees here now.

Goat was reasonably cooperative for her first milking, but after spending like 6 hours without food or water, so I'm guessing we'll get more tomarrow.

Geese were very anxious for me to shut them up tonight. They don't like the cold now either, and are spoiled.

I wonder how geese' feet stay warm! Do your geese vocalize how much they dont want to be cooped up on snowy days? My mom & I had to run errands one afternoon and had to put the geese us early since there was a chance that we'd return after sundown. They went inside willingly, looking forward to the prospect of food, but once they realized that they weren't going back outside, they threw a goose tantrum. I felt so bad hearing them cry as I walked away from their house. I kept telling myself, at least they'll be safe if we come back at night.

Marty, congrats on the new goats!!!! Also great news about Baby and Lucky making more progress recovering!

Bhonkers, my geese lay down a lot to warm their feet. They also prefer hay bedding to sleep on instead of the frozen ground. I know it's really cold when my ducks put themselves up into coop in the afternoon. Ember likes to throw goose tantrums about being inside, but Spirit prefers to simply give me the stink eye. But they will get to go outside today for a few hours, even if cold and snowy, since I really need to gut clean their room and give them a break. Plus, tomorrow will be a stressful day for Spirit, so he may as well have some fun with his buddies today.

How do you take Spirit to the vet? what do you carry him in? My geese lay down alot when the temps are very cold too.
