Spitzhaubens

Funny pics!

I swear we have a few rabbits around here that will let humans get that close! They have lost almost all of their natural fear of people! I have seen rabbits hang out under the tree next to the chickens.

It was very different several years ago when our neighbor had 3 dogs, we had two, & the other neighbor had 1. Never had any squirrels or rabbits set foot in the backyards then. Our 2 very old, dogs passed last year and our untrained puppy still has to go out on a leash.

The rabbits have been multiplying without anything around to scare them off! In fact, our puppy tripped over a bunny while jumping through my flower bed.

Breaking news! Beldar found his cock-a-doodle-do! Only it's more like 3 slurred notes at this point. He seems very surprised each time he does it...

The youngsters are 3 months now. They are polite, happy, and get along w the flock, follow its rules, but they hang out by themselves most of the time.

They have basically unlimited ranging area, but they stay close as does the rest of the flock.

I got one of Moonshine with 2 of them just now, you can see how much bigger they are than she is. But of course she's in charge.

Its still a bit early to tell for spitzies. First guess is pullets, but the second one has a more "boy" look to him. Send some more pics in a few more weeks!
