Spitzhaubens

Lockdown day for my incubator eggs! Candling showed movement in all of them. So far, so good!

Meanwhile, Moonshine is on Day 10 with her clutch. I am beginning to partition off her apartment in coop and run. She's already had others trying to get in her nest. She allowed Trixie, the Spitz pullet, (her 'daughter') to join her and lay an egg, which she accepted and tucked under. I later removed it. Later, on her break from the nest, a leghorn got in there to lay an egg. Moonshine was really upset, and I had to remove the intruder kicking and screaming. 2nd pic shows her inspecting her eggs after the threat is gone.
So anyway, it's time for some privacy....

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Well so far, day 21, I have 4 chicks. 1 is Spitzhauben, 3 are Sprights. 5 yet to hatch. I can see 2 with pips, but when I peer in, the chicks all rush to the side I'm trying to see in. Right now they all look the same size, which is hard to believe. The Spitz came out of a much larger egg.....
When I get them out, standing together, I'll be able to compare. But for now they'll remain in the incubator.
