Spitzhaubens

So here comes an update. My four babies are 6 weeks now. I think I can feel tiny horns on the first and last one, with a bit more withe in their crest. I really hope the other two are hens. Please be hens😅
1st one looks like male to me. (probably the leader.) 3rd one is the best bet for female..... but that can change with age.

@Nimah I agree w the above 2 ladies. Give them another week.
I gave away 2 Spitzhaubens and 3 mixed Spright cockerels to my Amish friend this morning. I've been promising her a pair of Spitzes for a year. I asked her to take the boys as I couldn't bear to kill them. So now I have 2 Spitz pullets left (hopefully) ages 7 and 8 wks. I hope I chose wisely.

Pic from today.

No she isn't broody, just laying an egg.

Sprights (Spitz-Sebright cross) today
Some have more crest than others. This is one of the Star Wars gang, Princess Leia, she has a veritable crown:

Here is R2D2 who despite his sparse crest, is quite handsome

And 2 of Moonshine's kids--lots of variation in how much black or white they have

I opened a portal between the 2 groups. The youngsters get along, but Moonshine wants to kill the little rooster, so I had to close the door. She isn't very nice to her own little rooster either. As soon as they are weaned, she's out, and the kids get to mingle.
The reason I kept 2 cockerels so far is to see which has the better temperament. Hen raised, or the one I raised.
Each group has 1 Spitzhauben pullet, and there are 9 Sprights in all.

R2D2 is very handsome. Does he have a nice temperament? In general Spitz boys are usually nice to both people & hens. Some Sebright roos can have a Napoleon complex. Actually some sebright hens too....... Example: Trouble can have some attitude. She bosses around the big chickens.
