Spot’s Coturnix quail colour experiments

weird chocolate coloured one, from a Tibetan and a Range carrying Roux. Siblings are a all most solid redish orange I will post pictures of them when I find some. I think the siblings are Roux Range and this one was Roux Tibetan. Unfortunately it had to be culled because its feet were wonky

I have 3 "jumbo browns" that I thought were males because of the rusty and cream with just a bit of spotting towards the top. I've been trying to figure out the cause as well, someone smarter than me said it was a specific line of birds but I can't find anymore information. I'm trying to join the quail colors and genetics group on FB but, I haven't been let in yet 😕

These are what I’d call call scarlet, it’s basically roux on Rosetta. The chocolaty one is more like roux on Tibetan. You see in the adult picture how the feathers all have lines on them? That’s indicative of the remnants of wild pattern. Your chocolate one will have feathers that don’t have the lacing and pencilling. I’m about to try and fish a smooth scarlet out of my pens to put in with some of the kdale birds that I don’t want patterning on the feathers, Ike the blue and black ones. I’ll post a pic. Some people differentiate between scarlet and red range, I believe scarlet is Rosetta x roux, and red range is Tibetan x roux. But I just call it all scarlet because that’s the term most people who buy the chicks are familiar with.

I am going to take pictures of all of my quails because I think I might have the dark brown colours a bit confused, since some people mentioned Rosetta, Tibetan and Range and others just mention Rosetta and Tibetan

Range is the pattern, Rosetta and Tibetan are colors of the pattern. You can have range versions of the other colors too, like silver. Rosetta is Tibetan crossed to pharaoh. And Tibetan is pure Tibetan.

Thank you for your help!
I though he was Rosetta because he is a lot more red then the others

I don’t know? (She is the males favourite that's why she lacks some feathers)
