One of my white Leghorn mix hens, Snowball, has spots on her comb. I just noticed them this morning and right now it's just the one side of the comb. No other symptoms. She's the only one in her flock with them. Any idea what it could be? And what to put on it to help treat it and prevent spread to flockmates if it is contagious?

Probably nothing to be concerned about. I would smooth some coconut oil on the comb for a few days. If this is the beginning of a fungus, the coconut oil has natural anti-fungal properties, and if this is merely dryness, it will sooth that, also.

That looks like a mild case of dry fowl pox and/or pecking injuries. You can paint Blu-kote on all the spots to protect from infection and further pecking.
