Spouses and Animals

Ha Ha .....
I just send a pic on the cell phone and ask "what do you think?" His answer "do we own that?"

He totally ingnores my chickens, the ones outside and inside. Without saying a word to me, he then goes and buys a furnace and oil tank to build me a heated area in the barn for my "inside chickens". Works for me.

My X- husband used to tell me no about all my animals, and fuss when I got them anyway. My husband now just respects me and cares enough about me that my passions are his also. He is a great enabler.

This is my theory in life. At least my DH travels so I can usually sneak the critter in before he knows. DH just struggles with the critters that he falls in love with which are most of them. He loves going and getting a couple of fresh eggs out of the coop when he is home.

Sometimes it backfires on me! I only did this with a few rabbits and some chickens, but every once in awhile my dad would go down to the barn and see a chicken he never noticed before and think I brought home something new! My mom and I always had fun joking about his lack of awareness around the chickens! LOL

Actually getting permission for an animal is so much more difficult. To get a gecko, I had to get a ten gallon fish tank, put a few fish in it for awhile, put them in my room mate's tank when there were only a couple left, and then ask if I could get the gecko (I originally wanted the fish, but many died when I had to leave the tank at home for part of a semester). I already had the tank, so it wouldn't take up any additional space. I couldn't believe my mom said yes. Now when I bring him home for breaks, she holds him more than I do!
