Spring Granny Square Swap

Good morning everyone,

Just checking in. I wanted to see if there were any new posts since I'm not being notified again. It's a good thing I have BYC in my Favorites so I can bring it up that way. Another windy day and it's supposed to go in the 90's so will be indoors today. I picked a big head of cabbage yesterday and some radishes. I'll have tomatoes soon. It's going to be a good crop if it can make it through the hot weather. I even have flowers on my squash and potatoes. I don't know if it's the mild winter we had or all that goat manure that was tilled in the ground.

Hope everyone has a good day and my thoughts this morning are with Erin.

Oh! Am I allowed to brag? My grandson has been accepted at East Carolina University under an ROTC scolarship. He's already flying with the Civil Air Patrol in NC.

I have total garden envy right now. My seedlings are taking over my living room and there is no frost forecasted for the next couple of nights but I know Mother Nature is just teasing us. I will wait another week and a half at least to put anything outside permanently (pots go in and out right now).

I think it's great that we can share our families' joys and sorrows with each other.

I have 80 squares finished for my swap afghan. I hope to lay them out and get a photo this weekend & will post when I can. The layout is just a thought, will change significantly when the squartes come and Betty only knows how many there will be. Then, there will probably be more squares to bring it to a round, uh, square or rectangular number. There might also be more squares just because I have more blue yarn and might make more while I wait.

I'm hoping the last two boxes come in by early next week. I know one is on the way but not sure of the other. You might envy my garden right now but doubt if you would envy the 90 plus temps. They claim it will reach 100 by next week. I have two borders to put on the gecko quilt and then I'll take a photo and post it. I need to get batting and backing material but it went together very well. Must get off here and get busy. Everyone have a great day.

Already? Wow it won't get that hot here for another month at least (knock on wood). I actually love the heat but even I get a little too warm once it hits 100. So I'll be happy with our low 80s that we have forecasted for our area. My tomatoes are just starting to really take off so it won't be long before I see flowers sprouting on them as well.

I hate Sat. mail because if you're notified you have a package you can't pick it up until Monday. I have a little brown slip that says I have a package and it must be more squares and the box too big for even my big mailbox unless they didn't want to bring it out here. I expect it's Kate's box. Maybe my hearing aid will come in next week. I sure hope so. I hear everything lopsided.

Finished the quilt top and have taken pictures but haven't had a chance to upload them yet. In case I don't get back on here before tomorrow....I wish all of you Mom's out there a very Happy Mother's Day and hope it will be a good one for all.

I'm back, my Battle of the Books team had a lot of fun but didn't place this year, poor kids got stuck with others who hadn't read the books and shouldn't have been there. My two girls are part of the club and spent the 4 hour bus ride working on crochet projects and even taught one of the sponsors and a parent how to make a granny square!

Here are 81 squares for the swap afghan. The pictures were taken in direct sunlight, so the color subtleties are gone and some are washed out. At least you get tree shadow, extension cord and garbage can.
